Creating a Rich Story Distribution Experience

Stacker

Stacker approached Mythic with ambitious requirements for its digital platform. This notable digital publishing company produces hundreds of stories each day, each containing at least 25 images—a significant amount of data for any content management system (CMS) to handle. Teams from Mythic and Stacker collaborated to design a tailored solution for their extensive data entry needs, creating a custom import feature. This innovation enabled them to publish the numerous stories their writers had coordinated in Google Docs with a simple spreadsheet upload, representing a substantial time-saving benefit that is crucial to their daily operations. However, these media-rich stories posed an additional challenge—loading up to 100 different images on a single page. To prevent overloading the Drupal CMS, Mythic developed a custom AWS container for caching and storing this vast collection of image files, which also improved loading speeds compared to the Drupal hosting instance. This optimization of images had a significant positive effect on Stacker's key metric—SEO. The improved SEO facilitated exponential growth in the distribution of stories across other media publishers online. To support this essential aspect of Stacker’s business, Mythic implemented several custom RSS feeds for client integration, along with creating unique features that allowed users to share stories directly from the page they were viewing. As a dedicated partner in digital strategy, we enhanced our collaboration with Stacker by establishing a comprehensive custom analytics system. This system empowered Stacker's team to identify which stories to focus on and promote based on the most relevant data metrics for their business decisions.
