Migration to WordPress from Drupal for NAB Show
The essential migration of the NAB Show website from Drupal to WordPress— the largest global trade show for broadcasters— posed several challenges. During the event, the site faced high traffic, attracting about 36,000 unique visitors daily and over 200,000 page views. The old Drupal site needed a more advanced content management system to support its large user base, which included sponsors, speakers, exhibitors, and partners. A significant issue was the existence of redundant workflows, which led to inefficiencies and time loss, highlighting the need for new, streamlined, and automated workflows.
To tackle these issues, Multidots engaged in thorough discussions with the NAB Show team to gain a comprehensive understanding of their workflows, challenges, and objectives. Together, they crafted a detailed migration plan divided into clear milestones, allowing for ongoing feedback and adjustments throughout the process. The strategy facilitated a smooth transition to WordPress, incorporating the innovative Gutenberg tool for content block designs. Additionally, Multidots created customized WordPress plugins to automate and enhance workflow processes, boosting overall efficiency. The decision to host the website on WordPress VIP was also made to improve performance, security, and stability.
As a result, the revamped website was launched three months prior to the conference. The introduction of new intelligent workflows streamlined operations for the NAB Show team, saving valuable time. The transition to WordPress, paired with adherence to top coding standards, led to an impressive 77.51% decrease in average page load time, greatly enhancing the user experience.
