The challenge Merck faced was to revamp their diabetes risk assessment app to serve underserved markets in Africa. Significant obstacles included very low internet connectivity, varying device capabilities (ranging from modern smartphones to older 360x640 pixel models), and the need for multiple languages, including Swahili and Amharic. Research showed that 90% of mobile users relied on Opera Mini to save on data usage. Therefore, the app needed a lightweight design that still reflected Merck's corporate identity. The solution Monterail provided was an ultra-lightweight application, only 0.7 MB in size, optimized for low-bandwidth conditions, which facilitated Merck's expansion into nine countries. They utilized Vue.js for enhanced frontend performance and created a specialized version for Opera Mini to cater to users conscious about data usage. This focus on accessibility opened new distribution channels, enabling Merck to form pharmacy partnerships throughout Africa. The multilingual platform positioned Merck as a leader in diabetes prevention, reaching previously inaccessible at-risk populations and showcasing the potential of health technology in difficult markets. Simfoni: AI-Powered Spend Analytics Automation

Simfoni is an international spend automation platform that provides AI-driven solutions for spend analytics and procurement management, catering to Chief Procurement Officers and CFOs. For three consecutive years, it has been recognized as a "Provider to Know" by Spendmatters, collaborating with major enterprises to manage spending and meet strategic goals. **The Challenge** Customers of Simfoni, who handle billions in spending data, faced difficulties in extracting actionable insights from their analytics dashboards. The manual analysis was labor-intensive and impractical due to the large number of clients, suppliers, and fluctuating prices. Although an AI-powered tool known as Factpack improved user satisfaction, Simfoni needed a way to automatically identify cost-saving opportunities on a large scale. **Our Solution** We created an AI-driven system using Claude LLM via AWS Bedrock, along with Python, Django, and Pandas. This solution is capable of processing large CSV datasets, executing advanced spending analyses, and effortlessly generating PowerPoint presentations. Specialized scripts were developed for Claude to recognize patterns, summarize industry updates, and reveal strategic savings opportunities.
