CarbonBoard
CarbonBoard is a cloud-based SaaS platform created by Misiv Limited to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in measuring, analyzing, and reducing their carbon footprint with the level of accuracy and insights typically associated with larger companies. Our objective was to make carbon accounting straightforward, transparent, and actionable, while ensuring the interface remains user-friendly for those without technical expertise. Misiv has developed CarbonBoard as a comprehensive SaaS application built on a modern architecture. The frontend utilizes React 18, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn/ui to provide a sleek, responsive interface featuring dashboards, wizards, and sophisticated visualizations. The backend employs FastAPI (Python) along with PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy, all containerized using Docker Compose for enhanced scalability and reproducibility. Key features include dynamic Scope 1, 2, and 3 calculators that conform to ADEME and GHG Protocol standards, an energy simulation engine that incorporates solar, battery, and grid pricing, hierarchical modeling to reflect the actual organizational structure (Company → Site → Project → Product → Entry), smart recommendations for optimal reduction or offsetting strategies, and a RESTful API with a modular design to facilitate future growth. This blend of data engineering and user-focused design makes the product both technically sound and very accessible.
