Me+Moo
Me+Moo is an engaging social application created as part of the 5G RuralFirst initiative, a collaborative project spearheaded by Cisco in partnership with government, business, and academic entities. The goal of 5G RuralFirst is to showcase the transformative capabilities of 5G technology in remote rural regions, enabling communities to develop more effective business models in crucial sectors like agriculture, tourism, renewable energy, and manufacturing. Milo was brought on board by Harvard, the public relations firm managing the 5G RuralFirst campaign for Cisco, to help share the project's narrative. Their concept involved utilizing IoT collars on dairy cows at a connected farm, allowing users to form a friendship with a cow and track her activities over a week. The resulting app is both humorous and educational, resembling a dating app but incorporating gamification and viral elements alongside informative video diary entries from Duncan, the farmer, offering users a unique view into the lives of connected cows, farm operations, and the impactful potential of 5G. Central to the app is the ‘moonitor’, which displays the cow's current activity and mood, as well as the achievements shared by the user and the cow throughout the week. Additionally, we introduced a gamification element where users earn rewards for forming herds, inviting friends, and sending each other “moosages”. More active herds rank higher on the leaderboard, further promoting the 5G RuralFirst message in a viral manner.
