Alliance for the Great Lakes - increasing donations and email signups
Since 2016, Mightybytes has collaborated with the Alliance for the Great Lakes (AGL). Our partnership began with a website redesign, as the Alliance was relying on multiple systems to manage their online communications and site. The existing design was outdated, navigation was difficult, and problems with information architecture made it hard for visitors to find what they were looking for. This situation resulted in fewer donations, reduced advocacy efforts, and lost volunteer recruitment opportunities. To address these challenges, AGL sought Mightybytes' assistance. Through user research and a comprehensive content strategy, we helped AGL effectively motivate supporters to protect the world's largest freshwater resource. Central to this initiative was the establishment of content types and messaging designed to inspire conservationists and advocates for the Great Lakes. By enhancing user engagement, the Alliance has been able to foster community involvement and increase donations, volunteerism, and advocacy efforts. Since the launch, we have continued to collaborate with the Alliance to implement feature enhancements, optimize SEO, and explore lead generation strategies. We also developed and set up reporting on user behavior and conversions, along with making various other improvements over time. The aim of our efforts has been to boost email signups, donations, volunteer registrations, and advocacy actions. In 2019, Mightybytes led a design sprint with AGL to improve their Adopt-a-Beach program. The platform used for this program had various bugs and compatibility issues, creating challenges for both administrators and volunteers. We agreed that a design sprint would be the most effective approach. Working closely with the AGL team, we conceptualized, drafted, implemented, and tested a new management tool to address their main concerns, all within a week. This experience not only allowed them to rethink the software's functionality but also offered a fresh perspective on how to greatly enhance the overall program.
