Six Flags - mobile app for parks’ visitors
By the end of 2020, the mobile app had been operational for a few years. Although it enhanced the experience for visitors to the theme parks, the client recognized that the app had greater potential yet to be realized. Believing it was time to unlock this potential, Six Flags sought a knowledgeable technology partner that aligned well with their company culture. Merixstudio committed to achieving this aim through software modernization, which includes code refactoring, app redesign, and test automation, among other strategies. Six Flags envisioned a smarter, more dynamic mobile app now, while planning for future enhancements with new features. To accomplish this, we initiated a discovery phase to gain a deeper understanding of the app. Following this, we reevaluated the development roadmap, focusing on the needs of both the client and their users and prioritizing software modernization efforts, such as updating code, refreshing libraries, and enhancing user experience. Since the client preferred an outsourced tech team that could take initiative and collaborate closely with their American team, we recommended a dedicated team model. Currently, Merixstudio’s team of 11 IT specialists, which includes mobile and backend developers, a DevOps engineer, UX designers, Quality Assurance testers, and a Project Manager, employs the Kanban methodology and works alongside Six Flags’ Product Manager. In addition to ongoing modernization efforts, we aim to introduce various features in the future, including parking reservations and Amazon Cognito integration for user authentication. We also plan to enhance the app’s visual consistency in the coming months and continue the redesign process while ensuring compliance with ADA standards. All of this is aimed at better meeting user needs and providing an unforgettable experience at the amusement parks.
