Maximizing ROI for RVshare with Automated Ad Data

RVshare

**Challenge:** Initially, RVshare invested in advertising and aimed to enhance their spending efficiency through precise attribution. However, being a marketplace complicated this process because sales aren't direct; there isn’t a simple “buy now” button that initiates a purchase. The challenge lies in ensuring that the ad campaigns that reached the buyer receive credit only after the seller approves the buyer's request to rent the RV. **Solution:** We enhanced their measurement system. Their existing setup included Segment and Google Tag Manager on the client side, which transmitted data to Google Analytics and their marketing channels (Bing & Facebook). Our first step was to integrate their data directly into BigQuery from Segment, alongside Google Analytics, allowing for more detailed analysis since the reports generated by Google Analytics were aggregated and didn’t reveal individual user journeys. We also ensured that ad campaign attribution was assigned to purchases only when the seller confirmed the buyer's request. To optimize further, we applied Markov chain modeling to identify the most effective combination of recommendations while disregarding less relevant traffic sources. **Result:** Previously, the RVshare marketing team spent over 10 hours each week manually compiling raw data into Excel spreadsheets to perform attribution analysis on their campaigns. Now, they receive clean, transformed data tailored for their analysis, offering deeper insights and ready for use in their weekly ad campaign evaluations.

Trusted Pipeline for Activation

Circle of Care

Objective: To assess the current data pipeline, analytics technology stack, and insights utilized by Circle of Care, and to propose enhancements aimed at improving and future-proofing it. Solution: The following modifications were made to the data architecture and pipeline: - Modified the architecture to provide each business team with its own data mart. - Refined the data ingestion pipeline and allocated dedicated resources for troubleshooting. - Implemented Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD) 3 or 4 to reduce costs. - Established a process to facilitate rollback in the event of data loss. - Updated LookerStudio reports to utilize the newly modeled data. - Identified critical paths and adjusted the pipeline to operate more reliably. - Ensured the capability to connect essential reports with the new modeled data. - Introduced comprehensive data quality tests and monitoring systems.

Comprehensive Data Collection & Analysis

Ushahidi

Challenge: Ushahidi faced three major issues that needed to be addressed to enhance their data visibility and operational efficiency. Firstly, the manual resolution of support tickets: Ushahidi records deployment and creator information in Google Sheets, which requires the team to address support requests by hand, leading to delays and a tedious workload. Secondly, there was a lack of conversion and churn data: Without a system to track successful onboardings and drop-offs, it became difficult to understand why users were leaving and how improvements could be made. Lastly, the data was cluttered: The team struggled to differentiate between genuine and spam (test) deployments, resulting in disordered data. Solution: The objective was to develop a detailed tracking plan to capture all events for proper analysis of user behavior. We aimed to create a system that gathered data automatically on user interactions and stored it centrally. Here's how the MarketLytics team achieved this: - Data collection: We utilized a combination of Google Tag Manager (web) and the new Google Tag Manager (server side) for data gathering. - Data translation: The data was then sent to Google Analytics to help identify users, assess interactions with our sites, and understand how these users arrived at our sites. - Data storage: We utilized Google BigQuery to store and transform this information, loading raw data into specific datasets for querying via SQL. - Data visualization: Finally, we created reports in Google Data Studio to provide an up-to-date view of potential customers and their activities. Result: As a result, Ushahidi gained a complete overview of deployment activities and user journeys in both Google Analytics 4 and Google BigQuery. They could visualize all events included in their master sheet alongside deployment performance, which is automatically updated. This streamlined the manual processes of data collection, user response, and identifying potential users.
