Our team created a comprehensive ride-hailing and urban mobility platform, inspired by inDrive, that prioritizes reliability, flexibility, and fairness for both riders and drivers. The application allows users to request rides within the city, travel between cities, and access courier or delivery services, giving both customers and drivers control over pricing and ride terms. We built a modular and scalable backend that can manage real-time ride matching, GPS tracking, fare negotiations, trip management, and payments. Our system accommodates high user traffic, provides live map updates, and enables dynamic fare bidding while maintaining performance and stability, ensuring seamless operation in both light and heavy traffic conditions. A key feature of the app is the peer-to-peer fare negotiation model, where riders specify their destination and suggest a fare; drivers nearby can choose to accept, decline, or negotiate. This transparent process empowers users, eliminates surge pricing, and promotes fairness—something that traditional fixed-fare ride apps typically lack. Drivers also enjoy flexibility, as they can choose which rides to take based on fare, distance, and their availability. On the user interface, we designed a sleek, intuitive layout for easy navigation and quick ride requests, allowing users to input pick-up and drop-off locations, suggest prices, browse driver offers, view driver profiles, track rides in real-time, and select preferred drivers. For drivers, a companion interface lets them receive ride requests, check passenger locations, accept or negotiate offers, manage ride history and earnings, and indicate their availability (e.g., “en route / available”). Safety and transparency were fundamental in our design. The app includes features such as ride detail sharing, live tracking, a rating system for drivers and riders, and the option for riders to choose preferred drivers, promoting accountability and fostering trust—critical components of ride-hailing services.
