360 Video Production for the National Horseracing College
Lucas Media created a 360-degree video virtual reality project for the National Horseracing College in Doncaster. The goal was to produce a collection of 360-degree videos that could serve as independent video content for websites and social media, available to view in this playlist as individual clips. These clips were also incorporated into a virtual reality tour experienced through an Oculus VR headset. The college marketing team utilizes these headsets during recruitment events and for prospective students visiting Doncaster. The response has been overwhelmingly positive from both the marketing team and those who watched the content. We filmed the 360-degree footage at four different locations, beginning at the college in Doncaster, where we showcased the courtyard, indoor arena, and oval gallops. Our next stop was Doncaster Racecourse for the St Leger event, where we had a fantastic time filming in the Pre-Parade Ring, Parade Ring, and at the race start as horses were led into the stalls. Goffs bloodstock sales provided a dynamic setting, allowing us to capture footage of horses in the Sales Complex, Parade Ring, and main Auction House. The final filming location was Jonjo O'Neill's Jackdaws Castle, set in the scenic area of Cheltenham, where we filmed the Gallops, Indoor Swimming area, and Stable Yard with its modern facilities. While watching 360-degree videos on platforms like YouTube provides viewers with a good sense of being in a location, wearing a VR headset immerses them in the action even more. We have several additional 360-degree projects in the pipeline and will upload them as they become ready.
