Among all beverages, wine undoubtedly sparks the most engaging conversations. What hasn’t been talked about over a fine glass of wine? Great writers have often drawn inspiration from it: Tucholsky expressed a desire to embrace wine, Robert Louis Stevenson described it as "poetry in bottles," and Goethe considered a glass of wine to be a "savior in need." We interpret “Gespraechsstoff,” meaning conversation starter, as a catalyst for meaningful discussions—wine has long served as a medium for communication. Therefore, our focus in designing this label was on enhancing this aspect of communication. The wine was bottled and labeled exclusively by the Reuther winery for Jacques' Weindepot and has seen great success both in physical locations and online.

This wine label stands out from typical wine labels due to its bold message. Its wording and typography embody a genuine punk attitude that is quite unconventional compared to standard designs. While most labels follow traditional visual styles, this design aims to break free from those conventions. Its intent is clear: to provoke and grab the consumer's attention. Ultimately, it presents a radical design that dismisses the notion that wine labels need to conform to a specific pattern. In contrast to many pretentious labels, this one is authentic and delivers a straightforward message.

“Glasweise” (By the glass) is a bag-in-box wine system available exclusively at Jacques Weindepot, designed for Rupperstberger Weinkeller. The project began with just a name: Glasweise. We thoroughly explored the concept of serving wine glass by glass using wine tubes. The packaging design serves as a declaration of diversity, multiculturalism, and pluralism. Amidst rising intolerance towards nonconformity, as racism and nationalism resurface in social discourse, “Glasweise” makes a clear statement against such trends, highlighting and celebrating each individual's uniqueness. The design reflects a commitment to values like cosmopolitanism, openness, and empathy. Departing from traditional labeling, the line between art and labeling blurs, creating a seamless integration where labels can become art and vice versa. The bag-in-box system is ideal for casual enjoyment—a glass in the evening or as a convenient party server. It is designed to fit in a refrigerator door as a 3-liter container. With a gentle press, wine flows effortlessly into your glass or carafe, allowing for as much enjoyment as you desire, whenever you like. The wine stays fresh for weeks, even after opening, ensuring that each glass—from the first to the last—tastes just as delightful. The only remnants are a lightweight vacuum hose and a cardboard box, both of which can be quickly recycled.
