Dell sells personal computers
Dell is an American tech firm that designs, sells, repairs, and supports computers and related products and services, operating under its parent company, Dell Technologies. The company offers a range of products, including personal computers (PCs), servers, data storage solutions, network switches, software, computer peripherals, HDTVs, cameras, printers, and electronics from other manufacturers. Dell is recognized for its effective supply chain management and e-commerce practices, which involve selling directly to customers and customizing PCs to meet their needs. Until 2009, Dell was solely a hardware vendor, but after acquiring Perot Systems, it began providing IT services. The company has since expanded into storage and networking systems, aiming to diversify its offerings beyond computers to provide a variety of technology solutions for enterprise clients. As of January 2021, it is the third-largest personal computer vendor and ranks as the sixth-largest company in Texas by total revenue, according to Fortune magazine, making it the second-largest non-oil company in the state. After becoming a private entity in 2013, Dell could no longer be ranked by Fortune, having previously been a publicly traded company (Nasdaq: DELL) and a member of both the NASDAQ-100 and S&P 500 indices.
