**Client Challenge** Marks and Spencer faced two main issues: they needed to enhance their organic visibility for essential commercial search terms and effectively implement strategic link building to support overall organic growth. The initial step was for M&S to identify and address internal hurdles related to establishing a new workflow, particularly concerning the understanding and trust of senior stakeholders. **Solution** Collaborating closely with the M&S SEO team, we quickly recognized the necessity of developing a business case to educate senior stakeholders for our organic strategy to succeed. Many internal departments were unfamiliar with digital PR. We understood the importance of collaborating with various teams, including content, creative, and PR, and planned to build awareness and provide education from the ground up. Over three months, we conducted several in-depth sessions and training events to ensure that M&S's direct teams grasped the significance of organic growth through digital PR initiatives. Journey Further initiated an ongoing stream of technical link building activities and PR campaigns across five core business units. By establishing a good relationship with the internal PR team at M&S, we were able to engage with various media outlets beyond their usual scope, thereby broadening the range of new links and coverage to enhance SEO impact. Our strategy leveraged SEO opportunities aligned with search trends and customer purchasing behavior to create timeless narratives for our stories, ensuring extensive coverage in reputable publications like Cosmopolitan, Huffington Post, and The Times. **Results**

Growing eCommerce revenue by £4m in 1y for Liberty

Liberty London

**Client Challenge:** Liberty London was facing difficulties in improving its ecommerce performance due to sluggish internal processes, a website design influenced by multiple stakeholders, and a lack of alignment between strategy and website development. **Solution:** Collaborating with Optimizely, we centered our ecommerce development operations around experimentation. Our approach included: **Campaign Optimizations:** The Liberty London website featured an unusual vertical navigation for desktops, which user research revealed was leading to user confusion. To support our findings, we employed EyeQuant. Our UX and creative teams created a preliminary design of a horizontal navigation layout, allowing us to compare both designs to evaluate the visibility and engagement of the search feature. We showed that users were up to three times more likely to notice the search function in a more conventional position. Altering the layout and user interface of the navigation also impacted the site's taxonomy and information architecture, leading us to conduct the test in two phases. Initially, we aimed for an efficient hypothesis test by modifying the UI while integrating the existing taxonomy into the new structure satisfactorily. This phase was completed within a short timeframe and yielded positive and significant results quickly. After confirming the viability of the concept, we dedicated more time to creating a robust design. The test lasted just over three weeks and resulted in a remarkable increase in conversions of over 7% and a 15% rise in average revenue per user. Additionally, the new navigation led to a 26% increase in search function usage and a 20% rise in the use of the account icon. The estimated annual revenue gain from this change is projected to be £3.7 million.

Scaling organic visibility for RedLetterDays

Red Letter Days

**Client Challenge** Smartbox sought a partner to help them achieve organic growth and enhance brand visibility for Buyagift and Red Letter Days. **Solution** We developed an organically driven strategy focused on commercial potential. We pinpointed significant opportunities within Smartbox’s product range, emphasizing specific subcategories that could yield substantial value increases. Our correlation analysis revealed a direct relationship between relevance and visibility. Additionally, our proprietary tool, Salient, indicated that key commercial terms associated with 'adventure', 'experiences', 'spa', and 'birthday gifting' had low link relevance. Our public relations campaigns were designed to leverage these insights effectively. **Always-On Press Office** We conducted daily media monitoring to uncover opportunities to position Buyagift and Red Letter Days as industry authorities, subsequently generating media coverage and backlinks. **Micro Campaigns** We launched various micro-campaigns targeting essential commercial terms, key regional markets, and seasonal sales trends. For instance, we utilized annual booking data from Red Letter Days to create the Adrenaline Adventure Guide, highlighting the top summer travel destinations. **Hero Campaigns** We implemented two major campaigns aimed at our top priority terms for each brand. **Results** We secured 871 pieces of coverage with 853 backlinks, featuring in prominent publications such as Mail Online, Metro, Mental Floss, Time Out, Hello, and Yahoo. There was a 170% boost in relevancy scores for ‘spa’ keywords, accompanied by a 27% increase in organic traffic and a 14.3% rise in revenue, as well as a 57% revenue growth for birthday-related terms.
