Blockchain solution for Patients Electronic Medical Records
**About the Client**
The client is part of one of the largest hospital chains in India, with operations in several cities. The concept of using Blockchain originated from the group to which the hospital belongs, with the aim of developing a Proof of Concept (POC) to gauge market interest before fully launching a product. There were numerous challenges in executing the solution, primarily due to change management issues and the novelty of the trend. The POC aimed to implement a Blockchain-based solution that would allow for centralized maintenance of patient information, enabling patients to share their data with various stakeholders. The technology stack for this solution included Ethereum, React.js, and Node.js.
**About the Application**
- Our Ethereum-based blockchain framework was utilized to set up the solution, which manages the blockchain component and has already been validated in other initiatives, such as e-invoicing and a certification portal.
- A tailored UI/UX specific to hospital management was designed and integrated with the blockchain framework.
- A custom middleware solution was developed for data collection from various sources, supporting specific file formats (JSON, XML) and protocols (SFTP, HTTPS). As the system expands, this middleware will transition to top-tier products like TIBCO and Sterling Integrator.
- The solution features a centralized blockchain for patient records, with plans for decentralization as more participants become involved.
- Only essential information, such as Patient ID, name, visit details, diagnosis, and reports, is stored on the blockchain.
