NQ Dry Tropics – Employee Intranet Portal Development
NQ Dry Tropics is a community-driven business focused on advancing effective practices for managing water, land, and biodiversity in the dry tropical regions of North Queensland. Founded in 2002, our goal is to provide solutions that enhance landscapes, livelihoods, and communities for the future.
**Background**: NQ Dry Tropics plans to create an image library on a Network Attached Storage (NAS) system within their intranet. They are looking for a custom software solution that allows staff to access the library using their Google logins, enabling them to search, upload, and download files from both remote locations and outside the office. Users will be able to search for images and videos using metadata keywords. The media will be organized in folders categorized by year and classified by specific naming conventions. The primary aim is to offer a user-friendly tool that requires minimal metadata knowledge for staff to contribute their photos to the library, ensuring an easy submission process.
**Solution**: ISH Technology has successfully developed a custom intranet portal that allows NQ Dry Tropics employees to securely share information with team members and subcontractors. The system includes personnel-related data such as staff profiles, departmental details, and contact information. Additionally, the program utilizes the NAS to manage metadata associated with files. When user data is uploaded to the NAS, the administrator receives an email notification.
