CLIENT/OVERVIEW Our client is a global research organization dedicated to life sciences, comprised of prominent universities and life science companies from North America, Europe, and beyond. PROBLEM / THE ASK The organization is responsible for managing information on specific types of proteins and maintaining reference data for various categories, which is frequently accessed by numerous researchers worldwide. While they had established a basic system for this data management, the increasing demands of modern collaboration necessitated an upgrade. Invenics assisted in preserving the existing bacterial protein database while enhancing the system's design to improve features and explore advanced capabilities, including Artificial Intelligence. Our software developers and architects created a dependable environment for development, testing, staging, and release, allowing the client to refine their development and deployment processes. They replicated the current application features using the Python/Django framework and developed a new deployment model that significantly improved security and reliability. Technologies such as Digital Ocean and Docker were investigated. The team refactored the original code and implemented substantial enhancements, including crucial fixes to the previous codebase, facilitating better processing and visualization of database contents. These upgrades have led to enhanced availability and security for the system. KEY METRICS The public-facing application is now operating on a stable platform with vastly improved stability and maintainability. Agile development has greatly optimized the process. THE REQUEST The client launched its proprietary data program utilizing industry-leading data products. The main goal of this initiative was to establish a unified service for ingesting market data from both internal and external sources, mastering reference data, and implementing quality management rules across the resultant data set for accessibility by different areas of the Index business. OUR PROCESS Invenics collaborated with the client's leadership to design and develop a top-tier Data Platform and Solution to accommodate complex market data feeds. The Invenics Digital SAP lab executed several pilot use cases and recommended integrating the industry-leading SAP data management solution (SAP Data Intelligence) into their existing platform.
