Denver Health, originally established as City Hospital in 1860, was created to meet the healthcare needs of the rapidly growing city of Denver. As a comprehensive and integrated healthcare provider, Denver Health offers hospital and emergency services to the community, irrespective of patients' financial situations. Each year, Denver Health serves over 33% of Denver's population, tallying nearly 1,000,000 patient visits and attending to one in three children in the Denver area. The Challenge As a key public hospital and the primary “safety-net” institution in Colorado, Denver Health faced challenges with the underutilization of antibiotic treatment protocols among its physicians. Did you know that product design can influence people's behavior? Ingenious, a firm focused on product development and strategy, harnesses insights from behavioral science to drive the conceptual design of products. This approach enables them to shape how people engage with both digital and physical products, influencing their behaviors in daily life. At Ingenious, we prioritize designing behaviors over simply adding features. The Outcome By highlighting the financial impact of misdiagnoses on physicians' insurance costs, we achieved a tenfold increase in protocol compliance within just three months of implementing our solution. In 2020, our platform also served as a means to disseminate updated guidelines for treating COVID-19 patients. Additionally, Denver Health enlisted Ingenious to develop a solution aimed at curbing the overprescription of opioids.

Fertility Pro

The Challenge Assisted fertility is crucial for many aspiring parents, yet the regulations surrounding it often make the process daunting, leading to anxiety for parents and difficulties for healthcare professionals. The traditional patient intake process was particularly overwhelming for intended parents, requiring them to fill out and sign over thirty lengthy forms that asked for deeply personal and sensitive information, all amidst a backdrop of uncertainty and emotion. Can software design enhance the assisted fertility experience? The Solution Behavioral Design in Action Ingenious collaborated with Fertility Pro to disrupt the established norms. Their goal was to create a platform that streamlined the experience for intended parents while equipping fertility doctors with timely, relevant information. Every element of the product is crafted to reduce stress for patients and set realistic expectations, all while adhering to legal standards. Fertility Pro exemplifies innovation in a highly regulated and sensitive field by showcasing Ingenious's ability to navigate this complex environment effectively. **The Challenge** The demand for physical therapy is increasing, but the field has become fragmented and expensive. **The Solution** Loopcare.io is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that generates passive income for musculoskeletal care providers by offering their patients risk-free virtual wellness and physical therapy alongside existing treatment protocols. Ingenious assisted in designing and developing the Loop Care service, which complies with HIPAA regulations. This service includes a web application for clinicians and administrators to manage the platform, as well as a mobile app for patients to receive care. It uses AI to provide real-time feedback, qualitative assessments, and corrective guidance for exercises, while also enabling communication with various healthcare providers through HL7 standards. Currently, Loop enhances patient care by offering clinics a platform that supplements in-person treatments with comprehensive musculoskeletal programs.
