Online bibliographical platform for academic usage

The Institute of Literary Research at the Polish Academy of Sciences tasked ImpiCode with developing an advanced tool for the storage, organization, and updating of bibliographical information about Polish writers and literary scholars. We created an online platform that accommodates the complexity of the modeled data, established workflows among various users, and imported information from sources provided by the client. One such source is an online lexicon, from which we utilized web scraping tools to extract data. This data was then parsed, organized, divided into atomized structures, and imported into the system’s database. A significant challenge in this project involved parsing a second data source: we received scans of a 10-volume lexicon in PDF format, with the text layer generated via OCR software, along with a list of outdated entries in QRT format—a format from a Polish text editor used in the 1990s. Due to numerous inaccuracies from the OCR process, we extracted text from the QRT format and combined it with the corresponding PDF version using custom merging rules based on the discrepancies between QRT and PDF. After deployment, the platform now assists the Institute’s team in reviewing and updating data by offering features such as change tracking, text markup, a WYSIWYG editor, and tools for reorganizing stored structures.

Mobile application for annual French Touch Show

French Touch is an event that honors the friendship between Poland and France. Participants have the opportunity to enjoy delicious French cuisine and explore the latest fashion trends. The highlight of the festival is a spectacular show featuring performances by Polish and French musicians. The organizers of French Touch sought our assistance in addressing issues with a mobile application designed for the event, which fell short of their expectations. Using the original app's design as a foundation, we redeveloped it from the ground up. We chose to build the new application in React Native to ensure compatibility with both iOS and Android platforms. The French Touch app also incorporates other technologies such as AWW, Lambda, and DynamoDB. Both app versions successfully cleared store verification. As a result, participants of French Touch gained swift and convenient access to essential information, magazines, and event tickets. Throughout the development of the mobile app, we encountered several back-end challenges stemming from the limitations of the original content management system provided by the previous supplier. Additionally, we offered support for the web application, resolving various minor issues and implementing temporary fixes for the problems introduced by the former supplier.

Support Programs for Those in Need One such initiative is the nationwide "Po Amputacji" program, designed to address the needs of amputees throughout the country. Its aim is to offer comprehensive assistance to individuals after amputation by providing essential information on post-surgery care and preparation for prosthetics, including the proper treatment of the residual limb. Another initiative is the "Mam MOC!" fundraising platform, which serves as a crowdfunding resource not only for gathering necessary funds with the help of the Foundation but also for providing support in rehabilitation, assistance with orthopedic equipment selection, psychological consultations, and, when needed, legal advice. In summary, through our partnership with the foundation, we have developed two applications—one for mobile devices and another web-based. We take pride in how our efforts facilitate support for so many individuals in need.
