**The Challenge** The City of Toronto aimed to revamp the User Interface (UI) of their popular Toronto Green Parking Application to improve User Experience (UX) and overall Customer Experience. Our app audit and redesign process aligned with an executive decision to enhance usability and included the introduction of new features to surpass competitors. We also prioritized the app's aesthetic, ensuring it resonated with the brand image to communicate a customer-focused message and provide a pleasant UX. **Our Approach** Our team initiated a usability study to evaluate the redesigned application UI with actual users. We assembled a focus group of 84 participants to gather valuable insights. **The Outcome** Idea Theorem significantly contributed to and confirmed that the project was on the right track, all at a reduced cost. Our improvements made the registration process smooth, fast, and simple. The location feature received positive feedback, and the Quick Park function was found to be easy to navigate, requiring minimal assistance for new users. Lumin Ultra is a biological diagnostic testing company recognized globally for its development of tests and reagents used in environmental, industrial, and diagnostic monitoring. They play a significant role as a supplier of COVID-19 testing reagents to the Government of Canada. The company sought an innovative software solution for analyzing wastewater health treatments, aiming to create a user-friendly platform to monitor and display local water treatment outcomes and assess whether the collected samples contained dangerous levels of COVID-19, E. coli, and other pathogens. Our objective was to effectively gather and present data in a way that allowed team members to access it remotely while enabling field testers to quickly enter, modify, and visualize testing results. To achieve this, we built a comprehensive backend system from the ground up, designed to collect, organize, and visualize the data. To kick off the project, we needed to familiarize ourselves with all the data points provided by their laboratory. We also required detailed knowledge of the specific strains of microorganisms, viruses, and substances being tested, along with the methods used to calculate results. Collaborating with the Lumin Ultra team, we devised an effective strategy for platform development and design. We facilitated the realization of their application by inputting wastewater treatment data and running scripts to import CSV files into the database, allowing users to see results in real-time. As a result, Idea Theorem enhanced Lumin Ultra's water testing data visualization through our UI/UX design and development services. This enhancement is crucial not just for governmental bodies and Lumin Ultra's testing facilities, but it also has a direct influence on public health and safety. The Challenge Community Centres are essential to life in Toronto, playing a significant role in fostering a society where everyone has equal opportunities for health and success. While they offer subsidized services and facilities to the community, they are constrained by outdated data management systems that are cumbersome and offer limited potential for enhancement. Staff at one of Toronto's Community Centres found themselves bogged down with paperwork instead of addressing larger issues aimed at improving the city. They required a comprehensive revamp of their systems and processes to enhance the experience for both the staff and the vibrant community they serve daily. Our Approach began with an Empathy Phase, where we engaged with current stakeholders and staff to grasp the existing situation and envisioned future. This future vision guided us in creating a product roadmap that encompassed people, processes, and technology to drive significant transformation within the community center, made feasible by the ongoing support from the leadership team. The Outcome was the development of a community center portal designed to connect the center with its members. The product was launched in phases to gradually acclimate both members and staff to the center's digital transformation. This digital portal is expected to enhance the efficiency of the community staff by up to 30% by streamlining processes from program registration to member onboarding. By leveraging analytics, the community staff can now make data-driven decisions and apply for program funding more accurately.
