MoonFi - A centralized exchange (CEX)
**Introduction**
MoonFi is a digital marketplace enabling users to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, ETH, Solana, and USDT among others.
**Challenges**
MoonFi's goal is to create a high-frequency, low-latency trading environment for digital assets. However, it faces several key business and operational hurdles:
- **High Transaction Volume and Latency:** The platform must handle thousands of orders and market data updates per second with minimal delays, particularly during volatile market conditions. Inability to provide nearly instantaneous processing can lead to customer dissatisfaction, diminished trust, and missed trading opportunities.
- **Data Integrity in a Distributed System:** The platform consists of multiple specialized services (e.g., an order matcher, an account balance manager, a notification service), all of which require timely data. Ensuring that transactions are processed reliably while maintaining a consistent and accurate state of user balances and orders across all services is inherently challenging.
- **Security of Digital Assets and Regulatory Compliance:** As a central custodian of significant value, the platform is a prime target for sophisticated attacks. It is crucial to safeguard customer funds, private keys, and sensitive personally identifiable information (PII). Additionally, compliance with evolving global financial regulations must be integrated into the entire infrastructure.
**Results**
The implemented system effectively fulfilled MoonFi's performance, security, and global accessibility requirements. Within the first 60 days of launch, the platform gained significant market confidence, securing $1 million in Total Value Locked (TVL), illustrating the effectiveness of its optimized backend and secure AWS infrastructure. Moreover, MoonFi quickly achieved a global presence, gaining the trust of 15,000 users from 20 different countries.
