In November 2021, Hexagon Creative was contacted by the team behind the relaunch of the Pensole Lewis College, a Historically Black College established in 1928 that ceased operations due to the city's economic decline in the mid-2010s. The college is now being revitalized as a design and business institution, led by Dr. D’wayne Edwards. Their aim is to establish a fully functioning HBCU in Detroit, the only UNESCO City of Design in the U.S. The school intends to offer innovative programs in areas such as footwear design, apparel design, and brand and product marketing. Additionally, they will have condensed "masterclass" courses, allowing students to gain practical experience by collaborating with industry brands to enhance their design skills. In partnership with Dr. Edwards and his team, Hexagon helped create an outstanding website that showcases the project's true potential and appeals to design-focused students. This collaboration resulted in a beautiful website that captures the essence of both the school and the city.

Detroit Economic Club Website Redesign

Detroit Economic Club

The Detroit Economic Club (DEC), founded in 1934, recognized the need to refresh its outdated website to better represent its prestigious reputation and engage users more effectively. Understanding the significance of a visually appealing and functional online presence, the DEC aimed for a redesign that adhered to its established brand guidelines while incorporating contemporary elements. The objective of this project was to improve user experience, optimize operations, and highlight the DEC’s rich history and current relevance. Working closely with the DEC team, we created a custom-built WordPress site that combined aesthetic appeal with improved functionality. Notable features of the new site included an interactive events calendar, a user-friendly membership portal, and dedicated sections for multimedia content, such as videos and publications. The design creatively integrated the club’s brand colors, logos, and typography, delivering a fresh yet recognizable experience. The interactive calendar facilitated easy event browsing and registration, while the membership portal streamlined the processes of signing up, renewing, and accessing exclusive content. The revamped website significantly enhanced the DEC’s online presence, making it simpler for members to navigate, enroll in events, and access special resources. These improvements ensured the DEC remained a leading platform for business and political discussions, honoring its history while preparing it for future development. This project highlighted the impact of thoughtful design and teamwork, resulting in a modernized digital presence that reflected the essence of the Detroit Economic Club.
