Revamped ATM Marketing Content w/ Flexible Design

**SUMMARY** HatchWorks was commissioned by Diebold Nixdorf to revamp an existing system utilized by financial institutions for creating and delivering marketing content at ATMs. The objective was to establish a flexible, reusable UI design system to facilitate updates across various Diebold Nixdorf solutions. **CHALLENGE** The former system, initially part of a legacy software platform, evolved into a standalone interface while still being deeply connected to its origins. This led to a user experience that was inflexible, complicated, and confusing. **PROCESS** The HatchWorks team worked alongside Diebold Nixdorf’s Product team to identify and prioritize critical features necessary for the main users. By designing user workflows, their goal was to ensure that the new design provided an intuitive and coherent experience that matched the marketing users' processes at different financial institutions. The development of an adaptable design system was essential to uphold brand standards, accommodate complex interactions, comply with accessibility guidelines, and allow for scalable UI updates across the Diebold Nixdorf offerings. **RESULT** HatchWorks successfully delivered a comprehensive design system based on the Bootstrap framework, which included both fundamental components (like buttons, menus) and more intricate ones (such as table structures, modal layouts). This system transformed the marketing application experience by prioritizing critical user tasks and streamlining the automation of marketing assets. Initial user testing received exceptionally positive feedback, with the system's usability score rising to over 83%, a considerable improvement from the previous score of 31% for the outdated ATM marketing solution.

Validating a successful UX to support MVP dev

Integrated Care Solutions

**OVERVIEW** HatchWorks collaborated with Integrated Care Solutions (ICS), a startup under National HealthCare Associates, to create a post-acute care management system aimed at enhancing patient outcomes by streamlining workflows for care management teams. **THE CHALLENGE** As a newly formed organization, ICS required support in discovering and aligning its developing care management processes. To address this, HatchWorks held workshops with ICS stakeholders to identify user requirements and system functionalities that would improve patient care. The system needed to accommodate multiple user roles, such as nurses, nurse managers, and administrators, which called for detailed workflow mapping and prioritization. **THE PROCESS** The HatchWorks team worked closely with ICS executives and stakeholders, integrating their feedback into the development iterations. User interviews with nursing personnel provided essential insights on usability. Prototyping played a key role, evolving through several low-fidelity versions to produce a high-fidelity prototype that clarified the primary workflows, thereby facilitating the MVP's creation. **THE OUTCOME** The validated user experience workflows and user interface designs culminated in a comprehensive solution view, showcased through clickable prototypes. This greatly assisted in business development and nurse training. The launch of the MVP resulted in significant improvements in patient care.

Scalable Population Health Platform Transformation

Spring Hills

**OVERVIEW** In 2020, Spring Hills enlisted HatchWorks to develop a new software platform for population health, with the goal of optimizing their care team’s workflow and adapting to their growing business needs. **CHALLENGE** Spring Hills needed to transform their patient assessments and care team processes from the use of spreadsheets and static documents to an efficient, automated system that would enhance patient outcomes as their team grew. **PROCESS** HatchWorks and Spring Hills initiated workshops to pinpoint business and market opportunities, as well as to grasp the requirements of the nursing staff. They produced a proof of concept, a product roadmap, and an interactive prototype that prioritized customizable workflows for different user roles, healthcare system clients, and patient care timelines. The collaboration focused on thoroughly understanding Spring Hills' operations, identifying specific user groups, and developing detailed user workflows, which informed the creation of a user-friendly interface and a cohesive design system. **OUTCOME** The revamped workflows and design system improved Spring Hills' operational efficiency and resulted in a sleeker, more user-friendly interface. Launched in September 2020, the platform shifted Spring Hills from managing patients through spreadsheets to a tailored application that effectively manages tasks and patient assessments. This advancement has lowered the 90-day readmission rate for the population served by Spring Hills to below 10%, a significant decrease compared to New Jersey’s average of over 20%.
