BeatXP Performance Marketing Transformation Case

BeatXP

**Initial Challenges**: The campaigns were disorganized, featuring over 200 ad sets, with a high Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) of $31 compared to a benchmark of $13.5, and a low Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) of 2.1x against a target of 4.5x. There were issues with attribution and category overlap. **Platform Issues**: In Google Ads, Performance Max was overspending on Discovery with a 0.8x ROAS, while long-tail keywords were missing and Shopping titles were weak. In Meta, segmentation was poor, click-through rates (CTR) suffered fatigue at 0.6%, and there was a 45% overlap in audience. **Interventions**: - **Phase 1 (M1–2)**: Campaigns were restructured with category-specific Performance Max and Advantage+ catalogs, and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) along with UTMs, Enhanced Conversions, the Conversions API, server-side tracking, and lift studies were implemented. - **Phase 2 (M3–5)**: Focused on scaling categories: - Smartwatches (40% spend): Emphasizing "Health + Design," with 60% focus on Meta and user-generated content (UGC) creatives. - Fitness Trackers (35%): Highlighting "Affordable wellness" with testimonials, balancing Google and Meta efforts. - Audio (25%): Promoting "Immersive lifestyle audio" through Meta and YouTube. - **Phase 3 (M6–8)**: Implemented advanced optimization techniques using first-party data, Lookalikes, dynamic creatives, bid automation, sequential remarketing, and enhancing platform synergy. **Results**: - Smartwatches achieved a 4.8x ROAS, with a CAC of ₹1,320 and 2,400 units sold per month. - Fitness Trackers realized a 5.8x ROAS, a CAC of ₹890, and 3,200 units sold monthly. - Audio products had a 4.9x ROAS, with a CAC of ₹1,180 and 1,800 units sold per month. **Platform Gains**: - Google: Improved Performance Max ROAS from 0.8x to 4.2x, and Search reached 6.8x ROAS with Shopping accounting for 35% of conversions. - Meta: Advantage+ produced a 5.4x ROAS, while CTR improved from 0.6% to 2.3%, and audience overlap decreased to 12%. **Key Wins**: - **Attribution**: Server-side tracking enhanced accuracy by 23%, uncovering Meta's 40% assist contribution. - **Creative**: UGC led to a 34% increase in engagement, landing pages improved conversion rates (CVR) by 28%, and dynamic ads reduced cart abandonment by 31%. - **Audience**: First-party data increased Performance Max efficiency by 42%, Lookalikes enabled access to new segments, and remarketing lifted repeat purchases by 56%.

The sexual wellness category faced several initial challenges, including a 40% rate of creative rejections, a customer acquisition cost (CAC) of ₹4,200 against a target of ₹1,800, a conversion rate stuck at 0.8%, reliance on broad targeting, and a loss of attribution, with 60% of activity occurring in incognito mode. For platform issues: On Google, Performance Max (PMax) was blocked, keyword options were limited, and only 15% of display inventory was accessible. On Meta, there were delays of 72 hours for approvals, restricted targeting capabilities, and a 60% rejection rate for video content. In response, growth-focused interventions were implemented in three phases. Phase 1 (M1–3) involved creating compliant creative guidelines, establishing a medical-first template library, and verifying advertisers. Enhancements included adding SSL, medical badges, endorsements from doctors, and privacy policies, along with server-side tracking, post-purchase surveys, and unique codes for attribution. Phase 2 (M4–7) targeted audiences based on behavior (men aged 25-45), layered interests, life events, and lookalikes. Creatives featured testimonials from doctors, clinical studies, "Men’s Health Facts," anonymous success stories, and discreet messaging around “wellness/performance.” Phase 3 (M8–10) focused on landing pages designed to meet medical standards, prioritizing privacy, including references to studies, and offering discreet packaging and billing. The sales funnel included awareness (blogs), consideration (free tools/consultations), decision (guarantees), and retention (personalized tracking). Results showed significant improvements: Google’s PMax ROAS increased from 1.2x to 5.8x, with Search at 7.2x and YouTube at 4.9x. Meta's Advantage+ achieved a 6.4x ROAS, with retargeting at 8.7x and video at 5.3x. Trust signals contributed to a 425% increase in conversions and a 35% reduction in CAC. The creative approval rate reached 92%, and recovery of the “dark funnel” was 75%. Over 50 educational articles generated 2.3 million organic impressions. The category saw notable successes: Diagnostic Kits, accounting for 45% of revenue, had a ROAS of 6.8x and a CAC of ₹1,420. Supplements, making up 35%, reported a ROAS of 5.9x and a CAC of ₹1,680. Consultations, contributing 20%, recorded a ROAS of 6.5x with a CAC of ₹1,890. In terms of compliance, the category achieved 100% adherence to HIPAA standards, with no suspensions and all claims backed by clinical evidence, utilizing anonymized data with consent.
