Background: Nic Marks, often referred to as "the statistician with a soul," is well known for his involvement in the Bhutan Happiness KPI research and for creating the Happy Planet Index. He is also an accomplished TED speaker and the founder of FridayPulse, a London-based startup. In addition to steering the company, he is responsible for the mathematical framework behind the SaaS platform that equips both enterprises and startups with tools to assess employee happiness in the workplace. Solution: Nic's multifaceted personality provided us with abundant material to work with, allowing us to find an ideal balance between his personal identity, the business, and the website itself. The design process was characterized by a careful interplay of color and lighting throughout the site, ensuring an equitable focus on Nic—the individual, workplace happiness—the mission, and the visitors' opportunity for personal reflection. We opted for a customized theme developed from scratch, complemented by a tailored admin interface to facilitate easy editing and content creation. **Background** Trafalgar Releasing, in partnership with its parent company Trafalgar Entertainment, creates exceptional opportunities for world-class theatre productions, educational events, and live cinema screenings on a global scale, inspiring and engaging audiences everywhere. When we first discussed the future of the online platform, the company's website was running on a C# driven content management system named Umbraco. However, something essential was lacking. A high-performing frontend needed to be supported by a backend that facilitated user functionality. The primary challenge was adhering to a tight timeline, as an important event was approaching where Trafalgar Releasing would take center stage. This meant that as soon as the name appeared onscreen, the audience would reach for their phones and access the website on their mobile devices immediately after the presentation concluded. Therefore, providing a seamless mobile experience was crucial for the operation's success. **Solution** The resulting website exemplifies a blend of usability, elegance, and a hint of British flair, creating a functional yet enjoyable experience for visitors. We had full control over the technology choices, and we determined that the available JavaScript frameworks at the time were too cumbersome for our needs. Fortunately, we were already successfully using our own streamlined JavaScript framework developed in-house. A key differentiator for the company is its comprehensive online catalog of luxury destinations. The foundation of their platform is based on high availability and optimal performance. ### Solution The result is an advanced online booking platform for luxury villas, combining aesthetics and functionality seamlessly. The visual presentation effectively captivates users with dream-like photography, meaningful icons, and thoughtfully designed user journeys. The striking images showcase opulent destinations and breathtaking scenery, supported by a refined and sophisticated design identity. The property search feature is central to the application, where users will likely spend the majority of their time searching for their ideal getaway. The search tool includes a wide range of features to assist users in finding the perfect villa.
