A Connected Packaging based Product launch using Facebook's Spark AR for Pidilite Industries

Unknown

Fevicryl, one of India's leading art and craft brands owned by Pidilite Industries, was set to unveil a new product line called the "Fevicryl’s Acrylic Pouring Kit," specifically designed for DIY arts and crafts. This range targets not only professional artists but also hobbyists looking to unleash their creativity. The Fevicryl team sought to incorporate immersive technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to provide customers with a hands-on experience in creating unique artwork with the kit and reached out to GoPhygital for assistance. Considering the brand's positioning and marketing strategy, GoPhygital recommended using AR as the ideal platform, suggesting Spark AR (Facebook’s AR platform for creating immersive experiences on Facebook and Instagram) for development. Fevicryl also maintains a robust social media presence through its platform, Hobby Ideas (www.hobbyideas.in), making the Spark AR approach a good fit for their digital and social media marketing efforts. How it works: To create a seamless and easy experience for users, GoPhygital developed a microsite hosted at http://fevicryl.art/. Users needed to access this site via their mobile browsers, which guided them through a simple four-step process to initiate the AR experience by using the Facebook or Instagram app to scan the product packaging. A few taps on the screen, and users could see their fluid art come to life through the camera on their devices. They also had the option to share videos or pictures of their AR artwork on social media with the hashtag #PourYourArtOut.

The app is continuously evolving, with numerous exciting features planned for future updates. Currently, it offers several high-level functionalities focused on comprehensive employee wellness. Employees can easily download the app on their smartphones. The app tracks users' daily steps, saving this information to their profiles. Additionally, users have the option to include various parameters each day. There are monthly Step Challenges that employees can join, and teams can be formed through the backend content management system, with leaderboards tracking their progress. The app calculates rankings based on metrics such as step count, calories burned, and distance covered (in kilometers) at both individual and team levels. It is designed to capture these metrics even when running in the background or if the app isn't opened, syncing the data when the app is launched. Moreover, the app integrates with Apple HealthKit and Google Fit, and it includes push notifications to keep users informed about their total steps, team standings, challenge winners, and reminders to log their sleep and water intake.
