Custom B2B Web Platform Development | Staples
Staples Professional (Canada)
Staples Professional is Canada's largest office supply retailer, operating 302 stores. The company offers a variety of products including office supplies, furniture, technology devices (like laptops, printers, projectors, and tablets), tech services (such as repairs and installations), and print and marketing services. Staples has developed a customized web platform using Dot Net to enhance client services and integrate their standard operating procedures (SOPs) effectively.
**Challenge**
The primary issue with the existing platform was its redundancy and lack of support. The goal was to modernize and improve the platform without disrupting daily operations.
**Limitations of Existing Solutions**
**Proposed Solution**
After thoroughly examining the challenges and auditing the entire system, we recommended a phased transition utilizing the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodology. Initially, our work with the client focused on revamping the user experience, which ultimately led to a complete modernization of the platform. To facilitate this upgrade, we needed to separate the frontend from the backend. The frontend was built using React, while the backend utilized microservices. With the foundational architecture in place for the new solution, our team focused on developing features incrementally based on essential business processes. To ensure smooth collaboration between development and operations, our DevOps team implemented continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD). Furthermore, we made sure to comply with government-mandated accessibility standards required for the web platform.
