UYU — Brand Identity & Visual System
UYU is a contemporary bubble tea and dessert brand making its entry into India's café scene and appealing to Gen Z lifestyles. They approached us with a product concept that lacked a clear emotional perspective, seeking a brand that could differentiate itself in a saturated, trends-focused market while fostering authentic connections with a younger demographic.
WHAT WE DELIVERED:
- Brand strategy and positioning
- Verbal identity, including tone of voice, brand narrative, and messaging architecture
- Visual identity, featuring a logo system that incorporates both English and Korean lettering along with a mascot and tagline, as well as a color palette, typography, layout system, and brand guidelines
- Brand activation
THE APPROACH:
We developed UYU with a mood-driven philosophy. Instead of selecting drinks solely by their flavors, the brand focuses on the emotional state of the moment—whether calm, energized, heavy, or anything in between. Each drink represents a brief emotional respite amid a hectic day. This concept evolved into a versatile visual system where colors convey feelings, layouts mimic thought processes, and imperfections are embraced as intentional. Drawing inspiration from comic storytelling, cultural subtleties, and modern nostalgia, UYU's brand identity is both expressive and upscale, designed to adapt seamlessly to varying moods. The primary logo features a combination of English and Korean lettering alongside a mascot and tagline, symbolizing both cultural richness and emotional significance—making it approachable, expressive, and easily recognizable.
THE OUTCOME:
UYU was launched as a brand that embodies a unique emotional identity in a market often dominated by trends and flavors, providing it with a distinctive, adaptable, and scalable perspective.
