In 2010, inspired by ESRI Inc.'s Mashup Challenge, Mark Laudon, a GIS architect, innovatively created an indoor mapping web application using ESRI's JavaScript API. Diverging from conventional outdoor maps like Google Maps, his app integrated geographic data with office floor plans, highlighting employee locations at ESRI's Redlands headquarters. This inventive tool won third prize and $2,500. In 2011, Mark launched Floor Plan Mapper, refining the software with input from initial client ZS Associates, addressing workplace navigation challenges such as locating employees and resources. Committed to affordability and practicality, he established a sensible pricing model, making interactive office floor maps accessible. Today, Floor Plan Mapper is recognized for excellence by diverse clients, underpinning its status as a leading personalized mapping solution.
