Building a Self-Service Payment Dashboard

Zimpler

Zimpler aimed to improve their system by introducing a self-care administration dashboard. This dashboard provides users with the ability to manage their preferences, oversee transactions, and set notifications. To realize this, Flexiana focused on incorporating the new dashboard into the existing platform without interfering with current features. The main challenge was to integrate the dashboard smoothly into the intricate payment platform and align it with the existing build and deployment workflow. Flexiana's approach included developing an intuitive user interface and a customized backend. They utilized the current technology stack while making enhancements where necessary. To optimize the development and deployment process, they implemented continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) using AWS services. The Self-care dashboard comprised two key components: an API for service communication and a user interface. These elements were packaged together to simplify deployment and ensure compatibility with browser security protocols. An authentication service was already in place for other areas of the platform, facilitating a seamless user experience. Flexiana adhered to the Twelve-factor app methodology, a recognized best practice for developing software-as-a-service applications. This methodology offered direction for organizing the code base, managing dependencies, configuring settings, and other essential elements, ensuring consistent deployment and monitoring across various environments, including development, staging, sandbox, and production.

Building a Scalable Payment Service for Starcity

Starcity

**Project Overview** Initially, Starcity operated with a monolithic application that managed various business functions. However, they needed a more efficient method for handling payments among clients, real estate management companies, and their own team. This included managing different payment types such as monthly rents, subscriptions, deposits, and refunds effectively. The technologies utilized for this were Clojure, Datomic, Pedestal, Lacinia, and Quartzite. **Solutions and Approach** A dedicated team of developers, working remotely from various locations worldwide, teamed up with Starcity to create the solution. Through in-depth analysis and close collaboration with the client’s team, they developed a comprehensive understanding of the business domain, ensuring a robust foundation for the project. To enhance stability and scalability, the payment module was transformed into a microservice. Communication between the main application and this new microservice was set up using HTTP and a GraphQL API, facilitating the efficient management of payment-related entities and transactions. Automation played a crucial role in the solution, as the payment microservice tracked transactions and automatically processed fund transfers, removing the need for manual handling. Additionally, it monitored the balances of real estate accounts to prevent negative amounts. **Conclusion** The partnership between Flexiana and Starcity led to the successful creation of a reliable and scalable payment microservice. This automation of fund transfers, along with improvements in code maintainability and a focus on future development aspects, allows Starcity to optimize resources, cut costs, and implement a dependable payment system. The collaboration was marked by effective communication, meticulous attention to detail, and thorough documentation to assist future team members. Flexiana's dedication to quality and customer satisfaction ensured the project was delivered on time.
