We collaborated with a client managing extensive, resource-intensive workloads to assist them in transitioning from AWS to a co-location setup. The project's goal was to lower operational expenses while enhancing control over the infrastructure, all without interrupting the workflow of their internal teams. Our partnership began at the strategic level, where we supported the client in choosing an appropriate data center location and equipment. We then took charge of designing and implementing the network architecture, selecting the right server hardware, and setting up the hypervisor layer for a highly available deployment. Once the physical infrastructure was established, we created a fully automated solution to provision multiple Kubernetes clusters directly from the hypervisor level. This aimed to replicate the AWS EKS experience in an on-premises setting, allowing the development teams to continue delivering software using the same tools, pipelines, and practices they were familiar with. By streamlining the complexities of bare-metal provisioning and incorporating cluster deployment into the client’s CI/CD ecosystem, we facilitated a seamless transition without affecting developer productivity. The new environment enabled the client to regain control of their infrastructure while maintaining agility, computing power, and managing costs effectively.
