The Pig Hotel

Since 2012, Etch has partnered with THE PIG HOTEL, assisting in the launch of its first hotel and continuing through the opening of its 11th this year. Our initial objective was to increase bookings for rooms and the restaurant during the typically slow months of January and February. The larger goal was to achieve at least a 25% increase in both room occupancy and midweek lunch covers. All our marketing initiatives are designed with the customer in mind. Thus, when promoting this campaign externally, we closely examined the full customer journey. We dedicated time to understanding customer purchasing behavior, whether engaging past or potential customers. The campaign specifically targeted THE PIG’s primary audience and was centered around a variety of reward offers to thank customers for their support throughout the year. Leveraging our comprehensive customer data, we employed a mix of digital marketing strategies including paid search, display advertising, paid social media ads, and email marketing to reach both previous and new customers. A crucial element of our approach with paid channels involved utilizing Remarketing Lists for Search Ads (RLSA), display remarketing, and creating custom and lookalike audiences on social platforms. We were able to directly link £280,000 in combined revenue to this marketing campaign, yielding a remarkable 4,500% return on investment. Our marketing efforts were aimed at encouraging guests to make their bookings online, which minimized the demand on the central reservation team and further enhanced overall ROI. During the campaign, we recorded 2,766 table covers booked using the promo code we established, representing a 27% increase in total covers available. We also achieved 1,623 room nights booked for the room package, reflecting a 50% increase in total rooms available.

Quilter

In 2018, Quilter faced a significant challenge after rebranding its UK operations from Old Mutual Wealth, for which Etch had previously assisted in the redevelopment of their PLC website using a Waterfall approach on their preferred platform, EpiServer. Etch later recommended that if Quilter wished to extend this rebrand to its other divisions, it would be more effective to adopt an Agile delivery method, enabling quicker adjustments and more cost-efficient releases. Implementing an Agile framework in a traditionally Waterfall organization posed challenges, but Quilter was committed to making the transition. To facilitate this, we proposed a collaborative, hands-on approach, teaching them throughout the process rather than completing the project in isolation. At the start of the rebranding initiative, Etch's specialists operated from Quilter's offices to establish a digital team, allowing for immediate decision-making. Given the distinct nature of each of Quilter’s business units based on their target audiences, our design team collaborated with Quilter’s brand team to develop tailored digital guidelines for each unit, ensuring consistency with their offline materials. A comprehensive toolkit was integrated into their enterprise content management system, enabling the creation of new digital products within EpiServer, with various styles for different business units while still sharing global components. The work adhered to Agile methodologies, allowing for continuous iterations following the initial minimum viable product (MVP) launch. Quilter has fully adopted the Agile approach and plans to expand its implementation throughout the organization, with the goal of reducing both time and cost associated with product launches and enhancements.

No Man's Sky: Galactic Atlas

Unknown

Etch Play collaborated with Hello Games to help them engage and maintain their community during the successful launch of the Galactic Atlas web experience. No Man's Sky is notable for its impactful debut in recent gaming history and has continued to evolve since its 2016 release through consistent updates. The game's development remains active, with a surge in community involvement leading to various creative initiatives from both players and the studio. One prominent initiative, the Galaxy Hub, was a community-driven project aimed at exploring, discovering, and cataloging specific areas within the No Man's Sky universe. Hello Games, highly attuned to the community and the fascinating narratives emerging from it, was eager to promote and amplify these community efforts and adventures to attract a broader audience and foster more participation. The concept was straightforward: to create a platform that highlights important community hubs. This idea evolved into the Galactic Atlas, which features a directory of community regions and a digital scrapbook of player-submitted stories and experiences. The final product is a digital map showcasing over 800 points of interest that represent important community achievements. As the Galactic Atlas developed, its importance to Hello Games increased, leading to its launch coinciding with the peak of the Waking Titan ARG, a multi-month campaign leading up to the significant NEXT update. The Galactic Atlas received positive recognition in major industry publications, including Kotaku and Forbes. Since its launch, it has continued to grow and is now regularly used to communicate updates on "community missions," a new game feature that encourages players to collaborate on shared objectives. Our partnership with Hello Games is ongoing.
