PR campaign for UK music company
The client: Ostereo is a digital music enterprise established in 2016 that employs innovative and proprietary data technology to discover, nurture, and advance global talent. Artists associated with Ostereo have garnered billions of streams. The company invests in early-stage music creators, generating multi-million dollar revenues annually while continuing to cultivate and support the careers of numerous remarkable creators worldwide. The challenge: The music industry is primarily controlled by a few key players; specifically, 85% of the sector's activities are dominated by four major companies: EMI, Sony BMG, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group. To penetrate this industry and build a reputation that attracts talent, Ostereo needed to swiftly position itself as an authority at the juncture of music and data. The work: Adopting our philosophy of ‘focus on what you know rather than what you do,’ we crafted three distinct creative campaigns for Ostereo. These included: 1) How to write a Christmas #1, according to data. 2) Why are pop songs becoming shorter? 3) Examining the class ceiling in the music industry. The first two campaigns targeted consumers, while the third addressed the issue of unconscious class bias within the music industry. The result: We secured over 2,000 media placements for Ostereo, featuring coverage in outlets such as Sky News, Metro, NME, The Independent, Classic FM, Manchester Evening News, and Yahoo! News.
