Global Citizen Sponsorship

Unknown

Objective: To promote Nedbank's sponsorship of the Global Citizen Festival and showcase its commitment to the Global Goals. Background: Nedbank played a significant role as a partner for the Global Citizen Festival, commemorating the 100th birthday of Nelson Mandela. To foster team cohesion and raise awareness about the sponsorship and Nedbank's efforts to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Global Goals), the Group Sponsorships and Cause Marketing team within the Nedbank Group Marketing Team Connect sought a team-building event. Audience: The Corporate Marketing team at Nedbank. Approach: The proposed solution was a team-building event modeled after the “Amazing Race,” focused on key sustainability initiatives. Participants engaged in a series of challenges related to the first six Global Goals, with positive social activism outcomes. Teams accumulated points based on their activities, which could be redeemed for rewards and prizes.

Live SuperNatural

Unknown

Overview: The goal is to establish a connection for Hi-Tec's new brand positioning, Live SuperNatural, while developing distinctive partnerships that enhance Hi-Tec's relevance to its target demographic and promote a sense of responsibility. Background: Hi-Tec aims to reach younger Black consumers in urban areas. Live SuperNatural emphasizes the enjoyment and appreciation of nature, embodying a youthful, social, and fun vibe that resonates with its new audience. Target Demographic: The focus is on individuals aged 18 to 30 living in the Johannesburg CBD and Soweto who have a passion for outdoor activities, specifically those in LSM categories 6 to 9. Proposed Approach: Introduce brand initiatives that revitalize community spaces utilized for recreation. This includes air-purifying billboards that also enhance brand visibility, community clean-up events, and park renovations in collaboration with Johannesburg City Parks and local NGOs. The campaign aims to foster community pride and link enjoyable outdoor activities with the Hi-Tec brand.

Swap the Meat

Unknown

Summary: The goal is to create a powerful campaign around Earth Day to encourage South Africans to consider a vegetarian diet, even if just for one day, as a significant way to help the planet. Fry’s Family Food aims to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of animal agriculture on the environment. The intended audience includes individuals aged 18 to 35 from middle to higher income levels who care about environmental issues. Solution: dotGOOD conducted research and designed a campaign illustrating the benefits of not consuming meat for a single day, such as the number of trees and amount of water saved, along with reductions in carbon emissions. This message was visually represented by individuals dressed as protesting polar bears and penguins displaced by climate change, who took to key traffic intersections in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban during rush hour the week before Earth Day. To effectively reach an eco-conscious audience that may be motivated to alter their habits with the right information, a strategic partnership with WWF South Africa was established. The financial supporters of WWF South Africa are likely already engaging in reducing and recycling efforts, but may not necessarily be cutting down on meat consumption. Both Fry’s and WWF South Africa utilized their social media channels to initiate discussions about the advantages of veganism versus meat consumption. This collaboration allowed Fry’s to enhance WWF South Africa’s Earth Guardians Programme, which rewards its 10,000 regular contributors with discount coupons. These communications also provided insights into animal agriculture and promoted the idea of taking a day to #SwapTheMeat.
