Aquaventure AI mobile app solution
**Background**
Atlantis is a renowned entertainment hub featuring two top-tier resorts, Atlantis the Palm and Atlantis the Royal. It boasts a range of marine-themed attractions, including the largest aquarium in the region, The Lost Chambers, and the world's biggest water park, Aquaventure. Atlantis aimed to develop a mobile app for tourists, locals, and hotel guests that would inform users about marine life while providing entertainment and allowing them to explore the attraction at their own pace.
**Approach**
Our goal was to gain insights into the business, the users, and the technology involved. We recognized that many people prefer not to read extensively, and while VR-based fish recognition might be enjoyable for some, most visitors wouldn't want to engage in long reading sessions while at the venue. It became evident that guests were looking for non-intrusive, relaxing entertainment instead of formal guided tours or educational content. The tech team conducted site visits to assess the quality of photographs that could be taken, capturing footage of each aquarium from various angles to showcase the swimming fish. We then created low-fidelity, greyscale wireframes to illustrate the content and flow, followed by several design concepts based on the branding guidelines from Atlantis. We tested the initial design and screens with visitors on-site. Our development partner provided the essential expertise and experience needed to create an engaging, creative, and effective Progressive Web App (PWA).
**Outcome**
The completed PWA was delivered according to the agreed scope and can be accessed at www.theoceantale.com. We are now able to accurately recognize over 119 species out of the 210 existing species, achieving an error rate of less than 30% in fish recognition. Additionally, we have designed humorous and informative error messages for unrecognized fish to enhance the user experience. These messages provide tips to users on how to take better pictures for easier recognition of the fish.
