Media ecosystem
DEXTECHNOLOGY is developing a dynamicMedia service architecture and applications, offering a suite of media services for PC, TV, and mobile devices. The dynamicMedia service is designed to deliver media data even over low-bandwidth connections. Our development work involves creating a controlling server, media and VoIP servers, and a Peer-to-Peer infrastructure. We utilized various technologies, including .Net/Mono, C#, MVC, WCF, GWT, HTML5, JQuery, EntityFramework, MsSql, MySql, and SQLite to construct the system. The controlling server facilitates content searching, purchasing or leasing, manages a complex system of content access rights, and provides an API for client applications and services. One of the main challenges was to ensure acceptable bandwidth while handling large data volumes and intricate business logic. For mobile clients, minimizing traffic volume was crucial, and a data change notification system needed to be established. The system includes multiple media servers responsible for adding and streaming content, with new content being converted into an internal format and integrated with data from lastfm, allcdcovers, lyrics, and copyright information. A cross-platform Peer-to-Peer module has also been developed to alleviate server load, which consists of client applications and a geographically distributed cluster of servers, operating on Mono-supported platforms. This module will be utilized by dynamicMedia super-nodes as well as clients on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
