Another significant deployment of Business Central this year took place for Ohio Mulch, a leading landscape supply company that sells more mulch than any other manufacturer in Ohio. With over 30 years in business, Ohio Mulch operates 24 retail stores and production facilities located in South Georgia, North Kentucky, Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus, where they produce high-quality mulch. In 2006, the company implemented Dynamics NAV and made extensive customizations to meet its specialized operational needs. However, these customizations complicated and increased the costs of future upgrades, leading them to continue using the outdated version of Dynamics NAV until 2019. In January 2020, DemandDynamics collaborated with Ohio Mulch to quickly transition from the old system to Dynamics 365 Business Central in the cloud. Ohio Mulch again needed several specific customizations. DemandDynamics partnered closely with the Ohio Mulch project team to integrate features for handling negative inventory, aligning freight accruals with sales orders, managing Bill of Lading, and converting the base units of measure for pallets. Ohio Mulch successfully launched Business Central on March 1, 2020.

Seattle Non-Profit streamlines donation process with Dynamics 365

One of our most significant Business Central deployments this year was for Treehouse, a non-profit based in Seattle that supports youth in foster care by helping them pursue their aspirations and transition successfully into adulthood. The Treehouse Store provides a complimentary shopping experience where young people can select clothing, sports equipment, games, school supplies, and books at no expense. Additionally, through its Holiday Magic program, Treehouse organizes the delivery of thousands of gifts to foster youth across Washington state during the holiday season. Previously, Treehouse managed donations and distributions using a mix of spreadsheets and an unintegrated Point-of-Sale (POS) system, while also using Dynamics CRM to track essential information about clients and store visits. However, these systems were not connected to the POS or the Holiday Magic tracking. To address these challenges, DemandDynamics collaborated with Treehouse Management to design, customize, and implement an integrated inventory and cost tracking system utilizing Business Central, along with a custom barcode scanning and POS solution to monitor incoming donations and outgoing items to children. DemandDynamics also created a bilingual web form that integrates with Dynamics CRM to handle holiday gift requests. Furthermore, we assisted Treehouse in syncing other pertinent donation and distribution information back into Dynamics CRM to enhance visibility regarding its community impact.
