Robotics training in VR

Algebra

A project funded by the EU in Sisak was designed to develop the infrastructure for the Regional Competence Center at the Sisak Technical School, focusing on electrical engineering and computing. This initiative included the creation of a new vocational high school curriculum specializing in Robotics and Computer Game Development. Students engaged in practical learning using actual robotics equipment and participated in immersive VR lessons that illustrated complex robotics systems, covering areas like hazards, emergency scenarios, and maintenance. The project resulted in the creation of 60 distinct VR experiences for the Robotics curriculum, distributed across four academic years and aligned with 15 textbooks. Working alongside authors, the school board, and our client Algebra, we pinpointed four intricate lessons from each textbook to be presented in VR. Each lesson features a theoretical section with voiceover narration, custom models, and animations, followed by an interactive quiz to assess student understanding. The VR lessons are set in a specially designed 3D environment that mirrors the practical training area (a hangar). Impressive elements include intricate 3D models of industrial robots such as the Fanuc ARC Mate 120iD/35, Fanuc ARC Mate 50iD, RB-Kairos+, RB-1-Base, HSTec Cell, and a cylindrical robot arm, all optimized for Unity’s real-time engine with polygon counts ranging from 5,000 to 15,000. Additionally, we created unique 3D models and animations for theoretical lessons, which included various mechanisms, cross-sections, diagrams, drones, and sensors. As a result, we successfully generated 60 VR experiences for the educational program, providing the school and its educators with an immersive tool for effective knowledge transfer. Our realistic modeling and modern curved user interface (UI) ensure the content remains engaging over time. Furthermore, our well-designed codebase, loading system, and hardware optimization enhance the equipment’s longevity and usability. Project Highlights: We developed a custom curved UI panel that adapts to the user’s position and retracts to the side when displaying models and animations.

Frauscher Learning Academy

Frauscher Sensor Technology

As a leading global provider in the sensor and technology sector, Frauscher simplifies access to vital information for system integrators and railway operators, enabling them to effectively run, monitor, and safeguard their trains and operational networks. Their wheel sensors, wheel detection systems, and axle counters play crucial roles in various applications, ensuring safety and reliability. Frauscher aimed to enhance their existing Training Academy by venturing into virtual and mixed reality, aiming to optimize learning outcomes and improve the overall customer experience. The solution involved creating a VR-based training experience for Frauscher engineers that simulates real-world scenarios. This includes three training modules: installing a wheel sensor (outdoor), troubleshooting and replacing a faulty board (indoor), and exploring FadC boards. Each scenario can be experienced in both guided and unguided modes, with options for single-player and multiplayer. The realistic environments, assets, and user interface were developed in-house to provide a top-notch training experience. The outcome was three fully functional scenarios that mimic real-life location-based training. This led to successful onboarding, and these training modules are anticipated to enhance safety, streamline training time, and reduce the need for additional resources in employee education. With plans to launch this project globally in 2024, Frauscher aims to increase brand visibility and foster growth in leads and potential clients. Project highlights include the creation of a custom physics-based interaction system that operates using either controllers or hand tracking. Unique interactions are featured, such as specific wrist movements and adjusting small DIP switches using two fingers, offering an unprecedented experience in the market.

Elynxir app

Pixelynx

This project originated from the concept of merging music with gaming to develop a new music metaverse ecosystem. Delta Reality was tasked with overseeing the Elynxir mobile app, aiming to create a solution that complements the PC version of the Elynxir universe. The idea was to design a mobile app centered around the map exploration concept popularized by Pokemon GO, but focused on delivering audio-visual experiences as its primary content. The Solution: The client envisioned the app as an event-driven tool that would enable users to navigate specific locations and uncover new musical points of interest. Our team utilized augmented reality (AR) and Niantic’s VPS feature as the core technologies to offer a unique way of exploring, discovering, and ultimately experiencing music. Team Achievements: The demo version of the Elynxir app won an award for best VFX, attracted investment from Niantic Ventures, and led to Animoca Brands acquiring a majority stake in PIXELYNX. Project Highlights: We collaborated with external experts in backend systems, audio, art, and gaming to deliver an award-winning solution. Additionally, we successfully advanced VPS technology, enhancing both the quantity and complexity of AR experiences available through a mobile app.
