Rail-Ticketing Platform Development: Choo-Choo

Choo-Choo

Choo-Choo is a mobile-first train ticketing platform based in the UK, designed to provide a straightforward and user-friendly alternative to traditional rail booking systems. The challenges faced included creating a modern platform for train ticket sales that could eventually accommodate bus travel, ensuring a smooth mobile-first user experience that included discount and railcard options, integrating real-time updates, and simplifying the delay-repay claims process. Additionally, there was a need to prepare materials for investors to aid in funding and partnerships. To address these challenges, a 12-week development roadmap and Scope Document were established. Key features for ticketing were developed, including e-ticketing, support for Apple and Google Pay, a split-fare search, and the ability to export tickets as PDFs for claims. The app also integrated real-time alerts and a claims wizard for delays, along with third-party integrations for journey search, basket management, checkout, and payment processing through Stripe/Braintree, utilizing Firebase and OAuth0.
