Microsoft Entra Private Access for security

A major security-conscious company

We improved our client's cloud security by establishing a Zero Trust network for their Windows 365 virtual machines using Microsoft Entra Private Access (pre-GA). This implementation enabled the client to connect securely and seamlessly to their production applications and internal network while tackling a significant issue: preventing unauthorized access to sensitive applications. **The Challenge** The client needed to secure thousands of Windows 365 VMs from unauthorized access to their internal resources. Initially, they considered Microsoft ExpressRoute, but found it inadequate for isolating virtual machines from other network segments. They then opted for Microsoft Entra Private Access, which establishes secure tunnels for authorized access to internal applications. However, this project required ongoing collaboration, as the tool was still under development and had limited documentation. **Our Solution** We focused on three primary objectives: collaborating closely with the client and Microsoft to gather security requirements and validate the solution through a Proof of Concept (POC). We set up Entra Private Access Connectors, installed the Entra Global Secure Access (GSA) client on the Windows 365 machines, and ensured that the secure, encrypted tunnels operated effectively across various applications with minimal latency. **Results** The POC successfully illustrated that Microsoft Entra Private Access could securely link Windows 365 VMs to internal applications, meeting all of the client’s security and performance criteria. The client's IT and security teams have validated the solution and plan to implement it more extensively once Entra Private Access becomes generally available.

Custom LLM Using Retrieval Augmented Generation

We developed a tailored LLM endpoint utilizing retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to improve the process of looking up documentation and creating content for a client. The goal was to facilitate the production of company-specific documents and marketing materials, resulting in quicker and more precise responses to internal inquiries. **The Challenge:** Our client aimed to promote the use of AI, with employees eager to leverage tools like ChatGPT for generating marketing content, addressing frequently asked questions, and writing investor summaries. However, ChatGPT faced difficulties with tasks that required knowledge of internal corporate matters, often yielding inaccurate or incomplete responses, which diminished trust and efficiency. Additionally, management expressed concerns over the risk of data leakage when utilizing external AI solutions. **Our Solution:** We laid out three primary objectives: We deployed a custom LLM endpoint with RAG, which supplements LLM queries with internal data rather than retraining the model. This involved establishing a retrieval system to accurately respond to user inquiries by accessing internal documentation. By integrating Azure Cognitive Search with Azure OpenAI, we developed a secure, private LLM endpoint that ensured high accuracy in responses. **Results:** The custom LLM effectively managed internal queries, enhancing the speed of documentation retrieval and content creation, while addressing management's security worries. It lightened the load for sales and marketing teams, enabling them to produce more focused content with minimal manual intervention. The client is now exploring options to automate data indexing and further incorporate the LLM into their internal systems for future enhancements.

AI for automatic content generation

We developed an AI-driven solution for the efficient and automated creation of captivating content (both text and images) using OpenAI APIs and AWS infrastructure. Our client, whose name remains undisclosed, faced the challenge of leveraging generative AI to automatically produce content via a user-friendly interface that would integrate smoothly with their existing software. They sought a system capable of generating numerous content pieces in a preset format, using only one input. The proposed interface needed to be a low-cost web page that incurred minimal expenses when not actively utilized. One of the main obstacles was processing AI-generated responses and converting them into a reliable format that would be compatible with their software. To address these needs, we worked closely with the client to outline the input and output specifications for the solution. We then established an AWS environment that utilized Lambda, CodePipeline, CloudFront, API Gateway, and S3 to build a scalable and cost-efficient infrastructure, integrating the OpenAI API. For backend functionality, we employed Java, while Handlebars.java was used for frontend development, ensuring the solution was both robust and efficient. We also created a customized web interface for straightforward user interaction and conducted thorough testing and iterative enhancements to guarantee the reliability and quality of the AI-generated content. As a result, the client now possesses a powerful automated tool for content generation, featuring a user-friendly web interface that saves them significant time by automating repetitive tasks. The solution can produce multiple interconnected content pieces, including text and images, from a single prompt. We enhanced Lambda's cold start optimization to minimize wait times, thus improving the user experience. Extensive testing and solid interlinking have ensured the generation of high-quality, accurate, and engaging content. The next step involves enriching the basic ChatGPT model with the client's dataset and expanding the options for content generation.
