Vodacom Fibre
Since its inception in 1994, Vodacom has developed into a prominent pan-African technology provider, extending its reach across Tanzania, the DRC, Mozambique, Lesotho, and Kenya. Currently, its services cater to over 295 million people, offering a range of mobile connectivity, digital and financial services, along with a robust fibre network. In line with its fibre expansion strategy, Vodacom collaborated with CubeZoo to create an immersive digital experience that showcases the advantages of high-speed connectivity. Together, they produced a Virtual Reality home tour that let users navigate through different rooms along animated fibre lines, illustrating the enhancements fibre brings to daily living. This experience highlighted the benefits of Vodacom Fibre through activities like streaming movies, competitive gaming, and smart-home automation.
The project presented one of the tightest deadlines we had ever encountered. With less than four weeks to film in 3D, engineer audio, and build a fully operational VR application, seamless coordination was essential. While the production team captured immersive footage on location, our design and engineering teams were simultaneously working in the office, quickly prototyping and validating what was possible within the timeframe. To maintain speed without sacrificing quality, we chose Unity as our development platform due to its flexibility and compatibility with multiple devices. Senior technical leads were assigned to the project, enabling quick decision-making and effective execution. Through focused teamwork and extended hours, we successfully delivered the complete VR experience on schedule. The outcome was an engaging and impactful campaign that allowed Vodacom to effectively communicate the real-world benefits of fibre connectivity, while also showcasing CubeZoo's capability to handle technically sophisticated, time-sensitive projects with attention, creativity, and precision.
