OUR STORY
**BACKGROUND**
Please introduce your company and your role there. My name is Oliver Jackson, and I serve as the CTO of Supra (UK) Ltd, a leading expert in access management in the UK. Our distribution division, the Key Safe Company, has been providing access management solutions and expertise since 1996, launching top brands like Supra™ and KeySafe™. In 2022, we established ark Life, a design and manufacturing brand focused on developing our own innovative access and security products. Created through close collaboration with our customers, ark products exemplify British design while offering the innovative features and high security levels that users expect from Supra UK.
**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What projects or services prompted your company to engage CoreBlue, and what were your objectives? We had a clear vision for a minimum viable product (MVP) that would allow us to validate our concept and introduce the solution to prospective customers. We enlisted CoreBlue to aid in refining our idea through a technical discovery phase followed by the development of the complete solution. Our objectives for this stage were to create a fully functional product that we could showcase during demos to gather feedback from potential clients.
**SOLUTION**
How did you choose this vendor, and what factors influenced your decision? We prepared an RFQ and solicited proposals from several software companies. After discussions with CoreBlue, it became evident that they thoroughly understood our business case and the challenges that KiCall aimed to address, and they exhibited a strong commitment to technical excellence. For KiCall to thrive, we needed a solution with minimal operating costs. CoreBlue effectively analyzed our concept and devised a technical plan employing serverless cloud technologies, which helped maintain low operational expenses and offered scalability. Their discovery process allowed us to grasp the necessary technical strategy for KiCall and instilled confidence in their team.
Please detail the scope of work, including project steps, key deliverables, and technologies involved. The solution was structured with a user interface divided into two main components. One was an administration portal to manage platform data, onboard customers and assets, and track usage metrics. The other component functioned as an asset management system enabling customers to link information to physical assets represented by QR codes. Users could scan these codes at key access points to access relevant information. Asset owners had the capability to safeguard private messages for select contacts to ensure information was shared appropriately and securely. This required implementing a secure two-factor authentication (2FA) process and linking data to the QR codes in a secure manner that prevented unauthorized access or alterations. CoreBlue utilized serverless cloud technology to construct and deploy the main API alongside several static ReactJS applications for the different user interfaces.
**TEAM**
How many people from the vendor’s team collaborated with you, and what were their roles? Throughout the discovery phase, we worked closely with CoreBlue’s CTO and CIO, who assisted us in defining the solution and outlining a technical roadmap. During development, we collaborated with one primary engineer and held regular milestone meetings with their CTO.
**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes from the project or general feedback on the deliverables? KiCall faced the logistical task of syncing thousands of physical QR codes with the system and making them accessible as assets containing information. With CoreBlue’s help, we successfully developed, deployed, and integrated the platform with an initial batch of 1,000 assets, ready for demonstrations to potential clients. The early release of the product has enabled us to begin gathering feedback, which has already influenced further developments to incorporate additional features and capabilities. The confidence instilled by CoreBlue regarding the quality and stability of KiCall has facilitated this feedback process and provided us the necessary insights to continue progressing along our development roadmap.
**PROJECT MANAGEMENT STYLE**
Could you describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines? CoreBlue introduced us to the SCRUM agile methodology, organizing the development backlog into 2-week work sprints and holding regular meetings to showcase deliverables and plan future tasks. Throughout the project, we maintained close communication with the development team, which allowed us to guide the process effectively, keeping us in control. When the team presented various implementation options, we were able to provide our input and better understand their recommendations.
**IMPRESSIONS**
What impressed you most about this company? From our initial interaction, we felt a strong connection with the CoreBlue team. After receiving a high recommendation, we invited them to submit a proposal, and it quickly became clear that they were the ideal development partner we needed. They remain unfazed by challenges, and every aspect of their delivery exceeds our expectations. Their technical proficiency and boundless enthusiasm make CoreBlue a refreshing partner, and we are enthusiastic about our collaborative potential.
**AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT**
Are there any aspects that could be improved or approached differently? Our initial aim for the KiCall product was to develop an MVP. To fulfill our goals, the MVP needed several refinements to present a polished product suitable for demos and onboarding early adopters. CoreBlue collaborated effectively with us to identify which elements could be deferred to future phases and where our initial investment would provide the most value. While there were aspects we would have liked to see addressed in earlier product iterations, this did not detract from the overall quality of the product. Our deepening relationship with CoreBlue has enabled us to align our ongoing efforts more effectively.
