Integrated Accessibility Compliance for Maui Jim Sites

Maui Jim's online platforms and component libraries were upgraded to align with W3C standards. Chromatic led the engineering team in restructuring components and pages to comply with these standards. We worked alongside the design team to develop a more inclusive user interface and performed accessibility tests using assistive technologies to cater to users with disabilities, ultimately minimizing navigation challenges on Maui Jim's sites. Throughout the process, Chromatic effectively collaborated with the client's web team, vendors, designers, and engineers, providing support and guidance to ensure compliance with ADA regulations. This optimization of Maui Jim's sites aimed to ensure that all pages and components are fully accessible to people with disabilities.

Chromatic developed a versatile and efficient Enterprise Drupal Platform for AHA, into which we transferred more than a dozen of their digital assets. Prioritizing top-notch performance and user experience, we carefully crafted every element—from intricate search functionalities to personalized theming to single sign-on—by employing best practices and innovative approaches. We significantly reduced their technical debt and addressed their toughest challenges with a positive attitude.

Increasing Readership and Optimizing Workflow for Outside Magazine

Outside Online

Outside Online, the digital counterpart of the renowned Outside magazine, aimed to enhance the user experience of its most trafficked section, the Gear Channel. By redesigning the structure of this section, editors were able to easily access existing content and implement updates efficiently. A new responsive design was developed using and slightly expanding the current Sass/CSS components. Following the relaunch of the Gear Channel, page views increased by 34% year over year, and the average "time on page" grew from 36 seconds to 1 minute and 12 seconds. Additionally, Chromatic established best practices for workflow within Outside’s internal team and addressed some infrastructure issues, resulting in a smoother editorial process for the editors, more consistent code deployments for the developers, and an enhanced user experience for the audience.
