Climate Advocates Voces Unidas

Climate Advocates Voces Unidas (CAVU) enlisted CauseLabs with a specific goal: to shift their focus to their CIC program while preserving their rich history and past experiences. The challenge was to effectively combine this new direction with their established brand. As part of our approach, we initiated the project with a website audit. During our initial assessment, we identified two major issues that needed to be resolved prior to a redesign. Taking Action on the Website Redesign This project involved multiple layers, including the necessary steps to tackle the immediate problems highlighted in the website audit. Here’s what we did to create a new and improved website: Immediate Remediation: CauseLabs quickly secured the website by addressing all vulnerabilities, ensuring a strong digital presence. Data Optimization: We optimized the website by eliminating unnecessary data, which improved site performance and user experience. Brand Integration: As CAVU shifted its focus to highlight its CIC program, it was crucial to blend the new youthful branding elements with the existing brand identity. New Additions: To support their renewed emphasis, we created a youth advisory board page, preparing for their upcoming program. Seamless Integration: The challenge was to unify the older pages—each with its own distinct style—within the new design. Without an existing style guide, we faced a mix of fonts and colors across hundreds of pages, making it difficult to achieve consistency since these pages remained active and accessible. Disabling the old pages could have been simpler, but it would have jeopardized their history, SEO, and credibility tied to the older content. To address this, we utilized a top navigation bar and a redesigned footer, both infused with CAVU's brand colors, to ensure that these pages felt integrated and cohesive within the new site.

California Child Care Resource & Referral Network

The California Child Care Resource & Referral Network (The Network) engaged CauseLabs to create a child care website. As a non-profit organization, The Network aims to establish strong connections between parents and reliable childcare providers while offering essential resources. **Challenge** In California, parents lack a central source for trustworthy child care services. Childcare information is scattered across various local websites and private platforms, each with its own criteria and details. Often, this information is incomplete, outdated, or difficult for parents to access when looking for local care options. To tackle this problem, The Network compiled a comprehensive database containing valuable information about childcare providers statewide. With this resource, they can offer Californian residents up-to-date and relevant child care information. **Solution** The outcome of this initiative is a child care website, accessible at mychildcareplan.org, designed for the citizens of California. This project is the result of collaboration among The Network, the California Department of Education, the California Department of Social Services, various Resource & Referral offices in the state, a selection of childcare providers, and feedback from parents. We have consistently improved the user experience, focusing on transparency and ensuring support for scalability. Managing a project of such statewide significance involves a complex interplay of factors and numerous stakeholders. Consequently, we adopted a human-centered approach from the start, dedicating several months to strategy and design to gather input from as many participants as possible. This process allowed us to create a website that truly resonates with its users, encouraging engagement and promoting growth.
