Leveraging Automation for Enhanced Data Analysis
XstremeMD (XMD), a leading medical services provider, encountered difficulties with its manual reporting processes for both internal and external purposes. These reports, which are crucial for optimizing staff distribution and proving return on investment (ROI) to clients, required up to a day and a half to prepare, limiting their frequency and timeliness. In order to improve efficiency, XMD collaborated with Capitol Data Analytics (CDA) to implement an automated reporting system utilizing Tableau and a Relational Database Service (RDS). The goal was to simplify report generation, enhance data analysis, and boost operational efficiency. Prior to automation, manually created reports were vital for managing personnel at high-risk locations and highlighting the benefits of their services, such as reducing emergency medical evacuations. The cumbersome nature of the process led to infrequent updates, hindering timely decision-making. The objectives for automation included streamlining the reporting process. CDA applied its expertise in Tableau and database management to integrate XMD’s reports into a simplified Tableau interface that was supported by an RDS for optimal data management. The impact of this automated system was substantial, cutting the report generation time by about 10 hours per report, which resulted in approximately $6,000 in yearly savings. Daily updates facilitated by the new system enhanced decision-making, contributing an additional $114,000 in annual time savings. In conclusion, this partnership transformed XMD’s reporting methods, illustrating how automation can significantly improve efficiency, transparency, and data reliability.
