As with many partnerships, it all began on a small scale. Mission Australia engaged us for our UI/UX design expertise, as their current Joomla website was overly text-focused and needed a fresh appearance. We developed a layout and color scheme that appealed to a diverse group of stakeholders, concentrating on creating key areas for the most vital content. After refining the website by fixing any issues, they started utilizing our support services. We then proceeded with SEO implementation, guided by an existing SEO strategy. Now, we manage their websites, including hosting, and they utilize all our offerings. We frequently undertake important projects, such as seasonal campaign work with landing pages tailored to specific initiatives. They place their trust in our guidance regarding design, UX, and development, and we often collaborate with third-party providers who supply the copy and creative strategy to ensure everything is perfectly aligned.

Our design approach is always focused on functionality, and this was especially true for NDS. While we updated the visual design, increased the number of images, and ensured the site is responsive for mobile devices, the priority was creating user-friendly navigation. Given the complexity of the content, having multiple menus was essential for clearly distinguishing between various levels. Additionally, we showcased popular and current items prominently on the homepage. To provide further guidance, we implemented a color-coding system for different content types, such as news, policies, and event or training information. Although users might not immediately recognize it, this subtle method helps direct them. Organizing the information architecture (IA) was a significant aspect of the project, as members needed to navigate content both through pathways and searches. We collaborated closely with NDS to establish the appropriate number of tags and their content, tagging 765 pieces in total, which was a crucial effort. Adhering to WCAG guidelines was essential for this client, so we developed the site to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards, considering accessibility in both design and development. This required additional coding, but our developers embraced the challenge. The feedback we received highlighted the outstanding results everyone was pleased with the new site. Team members like Brad and Arash were invaluable throughout the process, from design to development, and project management was top-notch. We're thrilled we chose Butterfly for this venture. What we appreciated most was collaborating closely with NDS to transform a complicated structure into a clear and organized one.

Our task? Revitalize the old. Worksafe's Injury Hotspots site was a useful tool for encouraging worker safety, but it appeared as exhausted as FIFO workers returning home after a trip. The backend was like a confined space in tech terms, with all the data hardcoded into the site, making it nearly impossible to update with new information. This project centered on effective communication of Worksafe's extensive and detailed safety data. We aimed to create an interactive platform that could present this information quickly and clearly to the average worker. Hence, user-friendliness was essential; we aimed to eliminate any potential usability pitfalls. We needed to engage users and ensure easy manageability for Worksafe. For the design, we modernized the aesthetic by flattening graphics, enlarging elements, selecting a more legible font, and incorporating fresh colors to enhance message visibility.
