Virtual Substation
Training in virtual reality allows employees to receive training anytime and anywhere, significantly cutting down on costs associated with travel and scheduling. Additionally, this method enables training in substations that are still under development.
Safety training is crucial in substations due to numerous hidden, safety-sensitive areas (like disconnectors and circuit breakers) that pose health risks if mishandled. Using virtual reality for training helps mitigate these risks by allowing employees to engage with simulated environments where potential hazards are clearly displayed.
Realistic interactions, such as simulating switching and grounding operations, can be created. Moreover, hazardous areas can be virtually marked off using the correct safety equipment. Detailed information sourced from connected SAP systems can be shown for various components, and functionalities like distance and area measurements or the maintenance of green spaces can also be incorporated.
In the future, the design of substations will utilize virtual and augmented reality, integrating this planning with existing web-based tools. A comprehensive library of components will be developed and implemented to support this initiative.
