Automated Data Exchange with EPREL + Product Data

The primary aims are to ensure smooth adherence to EPREL database regulations and to establish a process for product data syndication to disseminate data across sales channels like FAB-DIS, Amazon, and BMECat. The key goals include achieving project results and benefits: Gepard PIM (developed by Bintime) has provided a connector that allows for two-way data exchange, facilitating the import of products into EPREL and the upload of EPREL-generated labels, product sheets, and reports. Automating the generation of EPREL datasheets decreases the amount of manual work required for the ongoing updating and registration of products. Gepard's solution allows Stiebel Eltron to easily import and upload product data into the EPREL database, significantly reducing manual effort and the likelihood of errors.

ECHA Integration

STIEBEL ELTRON aimed to streamline and automate the process of delivering product data to the ECHA platform, ensuring that submissions were thorough, precise, and compliant. The main technical hurdle involved declaring hazardous or toxic substances at the component level, rather than just at the product level. We send data regarding toxic or hazardous materials from components (rather than final products) to ECHA, which presents significant technical challenges. This necessitated the development of integration logic capable of declaring hazardous substances from the component to substance level while also facilitating the seamless return of confirmation fields from ECHA back into SAP. Key goals included aligning ECHA-specific schema mapping with STIEBEL ELTRON’s existing SAP structure, creating automated mapping and transformation processes to manage complex relationships from components to substances, ensuring that even toxic materials are accurately tracked at the component level rather than just at the finished product level. This approach guarantees compliance while addressing a major data management challenge. It also ensures that submissions are precise and in a single language as required by ECHA. Additionally, it involves capturing ECHA response fields and integrating them back into SAP for better auditability. Value Delivered: - **Regulatory/Compliance Risk Mitigated:** Each submission adheres to ECHA's stringent standards, including GTIN and SKU alignment as well as component-level hazardous substance declarations, ensuring regulatory accuracy and readiness for audits. - **Significant Resource Savings:** Automated mapping minimizes manual, error-prone tasks, allowing specialists to focus on more valuable activities while managing complex relationships between components and substances automatically. - **Faster Time-to-Market:** With product data enriched, validated, and centralized in Gepard PIM and compliance confirmations integrated back into SAP, the launch of new SKUs can occur more quickly, with fewer delays due to regulatory checks. - **Enhanced Governance & Control.**

About the client: Futurumshop is an e-commerce platform specializing in gear, clothing, and nutrition for cyclists and mountain bikers. Established in 2000 as an online bicycle retailer, it has grown into a well-known shopping destination in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg for high-quality sporting goods, particularly in cycling, outdoor activities, and running. Its subsidiary, Futurum Quality Gear, distributes products globally. Business challenge: The founder aimed to create a premium online store tailored to outdoor sports enthusiasts who also have a passion for cycling. By 2008, Futurumshop required a new webshop, which was efficiently developed, maintained, and supported by Bintime. By 2019, mobile traffic to Futurumshop.nl surged to 60%, prompting the company to prioritize high levels of personalization for mobile shoppers while continuing to expand. Approach: In line with Icecat’s innovative growth strategy, Bintime's development team employed an agile methodology, enabling them to efficiently transform Icecat’s requirements and ideas into platform features and reduce their time to market.
