Several months ago, Big Lazy Panda faced challenges with their project management. They lacked a method for tracking their success or identifying problems early on. As a creative boutique specializing in visual effects, Big Lazy Panda (B.L.P.) relied on a complicated spreadsheet to monitor their projects, tasks, and invoices. They also utilized FileMaker, a software program for generating quotes and bids as well as creating a detailed task list with pricing, along with TSheets for tracking employee time on jobs. Unfortunately, these tools did not integrate with one another or with the spreadsheet. Brad was particularly worried about the risks associated with spreadsheets; he often felt anxious about the potential loss of their master spreadsheet, which could result in the loss of significant historical data and hours spent reconstructing the system. He required a customized solution—one that would enable seamless integration of all their tools while offering the necessary functionalities without any unnecessary extras. That’s where we stepped in. We recommended the PWA, a progressive web app, as the ideal solution. We developed tailored project management software specifically for VFX shot tracking and estimating, granting various access levels for privileged users, artists, and accountants. To address B.L.P.'s primary challenges, the new software consolidates their former scattered project management tools into a single platform, closes the gap between quotes and project lists, and streamlines communication among the production team, managers, and accountants. It also eliminates redundant tasks, saving considerable time and reducing frustration while significantly decreasing the likelihood of human error, such as entering incorrect data or omitting an invoice.

We were introduced to Jeremy Horne, who pitched us a concept we found appealing—an app designed to genuinely enhance people’s lives, making them feel better and maximize their daily experience. Alongside Jeremy and co-founder Gareth, we helped to bring Thriverapp™ to fruition. Today, this app is on its way to becoming one of the most reputable and effective wellness and personal development platforms worldwide. Jeremy compiled a comprehensive stack featuring designs and user experience plans, and he and Gareth sought a partner to transform these concepts into a mobile application for both iOS and Android, while also managing all backend services within their budget. They envisioned an app they call a “community-powered ultimate life list," aiming to merge bookmarking functionalities with social elements. Users can save anything from books to useful software, creating a collection of their favorite content to incorporate into their everyday lives in hopes of improving their well-being. The community feature enables users to discover products and content others are engaging with. However, the functionality was quite complex; the challenge lay in simplifying this complexity for the user experience. When we began our collaboration with Thriverapp™, our focus was on optimizing the user experience and ensuring seamless interaction between the front-end and back-end systems. We concentrated primarily on mobile app development and backend services, creating native iOS and Android apps using React Native that included all the features outlined in the initial planning stages.

E-commerce platform for photo printing business

This is an e-commerce platform designed not only for ordering prints but also to enhance the customer experience by showcasing the quality of prints that capture their cherished memories, all while ensuring a simple and convenient process. To make ordering as easy as possible, we opted to leverage the latest web technologies and HTML5, reversing the traditional order placement method. Typically, users select the photos they wish to print, upload them to the server, and then place their order. In our application, customers can choose and review their photos on their own devices, place their order, and only upload the files to the server once they have confirmed the order. This approach has sped up the entire process by 80% and has also minimized the risk of cart abandonment. Additionally, to streamline order fulfillment, the admin panel includes tools that export orders in a format that aligns perfectly with the Fuji Frontier photo lab's requirements. This benefits lab technicians by reducing their workload and ensuring that prints are produced in the correct format and on the right paper. Prior to the platform's launch, online orders comprised only 5% of Lab31's total orders. However, in the first year following the online store's introduction, the volume of online orders has tripled. The platform's reach has expanded, attracting customers nationwide and positioning Lab31 to compete with the industry's largest players.
