Preverity, Inc

Preverity is a data analytics company focused on insurance for medical professional liability providers. The firm produces and shares data insights about risk with its enterprise clients through various web-based dashboards. Clients can utilize these dashboards to assess risk attributes of individual professionals or groups, such as a specific set of physicians at a hospital or a collective of nurse practitioners. Many of Preverity's clients sought detailed data to integrate into their own risk analysis workflows, like an insurance company aiming to evaluate particular physicians based on certain procedures and outcomes. We partnered with Preverity to develop a sophisticated API on their enterprise data platform, allowing clients to access and request organized data from this API, which will create opportunities for new clients, partnerships, and product developments for Preverity.

UI/UX design for an insurance comparison platform

Rate Retriever

The Rate Retriever platform was in solid condition when Asymm became involved, but the front-end required enhancements in several important user-experience areas. Rate Retriever's platform allows users to compare insurance rates from a variety of providers for home, auto, and bundled coverage. A key challenge in creating a platform with such functionality is effectively conveying rates to users and providing benchmark data to help them assess their quoted rates in relation to standard policy limits and average premiums. Another significant challenge was improving and reworking the process through which customers submit their personal information to obtain rates that accurately reflect the coverage they are exploring. Our collaboration with Rate Retriever resulted in a complete redesign of the UI/UX for their online insurance comparison platform. Asymm adopted a mobile-first strategy for redesigning this web-based application to give it the feel of an iOS app, even though users access it via a mobile browser. Given that a substantial portion of Rate Retriever's traffic is mobile, this mobile-first approach was a crucial factor in the design process. The designs were developed in Figma, and the project deliverables included various elements. Our impact will be evaluated through conversion and usability metrics that Rate Retriever will gather over the coming months. As Rate Retriever experiences growth in inbound traffic, they are optimistic that the new UI/UX will enhance their product-market fit and encourage more participation from carriers.

Now Insurance

During our multi-year collaboration with NOW insurance, we have successfully created and launched new features for their platform. Our partnership was organized as a managed outsourced team that included two full-stack engineers, a dedicated project manager, a QA lead, and a quality assurance engineer who collaborated closely with NOW's in-house product management team to identify, define, and develop essential features for their sales, marketing, customer service, and underwriting departments. Our software development team employed an agile methodology, organizing work into two-week sprints to prioritize features, epics, and bugs according to the various priorities of their organizational units. NOW’s platform addresses a significant challenge in the specialty insurance sector—the slow adoption of technology that hampers efficiency and performance. With the introduction of key features, NOW can issue a large number of professional liability policies with minimal overhead while adhering to consistent underwriting standards and pricing. This not only allows them to offer competitive rates and loss ratios but also enables them to sell insurance directly to clients and through their broker network. By concentrating on enhancing the user experience for both professionals and brokers involved in commercial liability insurance distribution, and by upholding strong insurance principles, NOW has developed technology-driven insurance products that will foster new business opportunities, partnerships, and sustainable growth.
