Ice Cream Packaging
How to create packaging for an ice cream brand intended for national distribution using custom designs, while also establishing a brand system that can be adapted for various ice cream types, retail locations, and delivery vehicles. Simultaneously, arrange for specialized manufacturing, procure food-safe paper, devise a cost-effective layout, and design the packaging to minimize the use of glue. The branding system was implemented across both custom and standard packaging formats in glass, plastic, and paper with varying sizes. This system also extended to brand cafes, mobile stores, and delivery vehicles. In terms of structural design, a unique food-safe ice cream cube structure was designed and prototyped, which reduced paper usage, insulated the product, and incorporated tension to prevent leaks. Custom locks were developed to minimize glue usage and simplify folding. The visual design featured vibrant, colorful illustrations, showcasing watercolor-rendered ice cream flavor characters that engage with customers. This distinctive look sets it apart from other ice cream packaging on shelves, making it eye-catching and appealing. For production, food-safe paper was sourced in sheets and organized using a tailored layout to reduce material consumption, with the offset printing done using non-toxic inks.
